Can you imagine Robert Johnson, Dale Cooper, Debbie Harry and Karl or Groucho Marx gathered around a tropical style rattan table (bending under loads of empty and half empty cocktail glasses), on a casino terrace in a blade runner version of Las Vegas, avidly discussing urbanism, vernacular music, party sociology and substance abuse anecdotes - while popular songs from aeon old 78’s are jangling through some distorted P.A.? And intermingling with that the frantic record-scratching carried over from a nearby 80’s New York block party and the muffled noise from a crowded Mexican speakeasy next door (operated by a former ship’s cook from the Bucovina)?
If that sounds like a gathering you’d like to join, then “Hello Weltgeist!” might be just down your alley. A jet propelled rollercoaster ride through Indie-Rock, weird old America, Disco, future-electro, New Wave, Turntablism, 70’s Punk, Country/Western, Glam, Grunge and Mariachi. Well, it’s all Pop after all, isn’t it?
Fortunately, Alpha Saloon have based this eclecticism extravaganza on a groundwork of solid songwriting skills, mostly evading mere novelty. Yes, terribly talented tunesmiths they are: “Hello Weltgeist!” offers a shitload of catchy melodies, lucsious chord changes and elegant, witty lyrics, that go far beyond your usual “songs about love and the weather” fare. And the band seems to be very serious about what they have to say: every song on the recording is performed like they were navigating burning ships or something...
I would like to inform you about my the next release of my band CULTES DES GOULES. It's called THE HOUSE AT THE WATER and is available on HALLOWEEN 2008 through my webstore: http://www. ghul. org/index. php?p=shop. articles
The Music is a mix between HORROR METAL and BATCAVE. It's played with up to 5 distorted basses - 100% guitar free! On the record you'll hear scary orchestral elements, bringing more darkness and horror into the sound. If you like dark and raw midtempo music with lyrics from master like H.P. LOVECRAFT and EDGAR ALLAN POW you'll love CULTES DES GOULES new album THE HOUSE AT THE WATER.
The release comes as a CD-R with full coloured and professionally printed 4 page booklet. It's beeing hold in a slim case and has a simple sticker on it. As you may have noticed, it is not released as a printed CD.
BLACK SUNDAY / LE JONATHAN REILLY "Something To Tell You" SPLIT 12-INCH The record features 5 new tracks from each Black Sunday (Alicja Trout band- Lost sounds, River City Tainlines,Destruction unit…) and Le Jonathan Reilly, all seriously killers in their own right, and is pretty exceptionally diverse in terms of new stuff (on the Black Sunday side). Plus 5 new first-wave-esque-garagepunk charges from Le Jonathan Reilly (think The Rats, Swell Maps). All this yeah, but what spaced out, weirdo rock record would be complete without metallic inks and funky packaging?!! So it's basically all ready for your next acid trip where you'll be falling into black holes in the bathroom mirror while listening to it in the background. FREE DOWNLOAD COUPON INSIDE RECORD!
"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget." *Arundhati Roy*
