The Electric Cinema Film Orchestra have rapidly built up a much sought after reputation for being one of the most unique acts in the country with their fun, energetic, yes even ‘electric’ live performances, which are played in sync with specially edited film footage to create an amazing audio visual experience.
The Electric Cinema Film Orchestra formed in 2007 initially with members of staff at the Cinema. Owner of the Cinema and soundtrack composer Tom Lawes on vocals & guitar, was joined by Cinema Operations Manager Aaron Murphy on bass and Bird on drums (ex Delta and now KateGoes). A few weeks later Louis Clark joined ..boards (ex Delta) and as a string arranger (previous work includes ELO) along with music producer Ian Wallman on guitar (ex B15 Project) who has worked with a wide range of artists from Shola Ama to Beyonce.
Over the next 12 months the band played several sold out shows at the Cinema and expanded to include a brass section, backing singers (including ViX from ViX n The Kix, ex-Fuzzbox) plus a full string section from the Conservatoire and beyond.
By popular demand, from Summer 2008, this bunch of ridiculously talented musical misfits began to venture out from the Cinema playing at high profile events such as the Royal Television Society Awards and supporting the CBSO in front of thousands of people in Birmingham’s Centenary Square.
The band has just started producing the first recordings in their studio at The Electric, which are currently available to hear on MySpace and YouTube.
The Electric Cinema Film Orchestra really must be seen to be believed, so catch a show now and believe it!
