Scott Jeffers has assembled a group of truly talented and diverse musicians that make this band quite possibly the first of its kind, fusing traditional old world elements with a full blown hard rock ensemble.
Composer and founder of the band, his vision is to fuse elements of ancient ethnic music with rock. He has traveled extensively through foreign lands to gather inspiration for the Traveler project. Not only is he influenced by the exotic music but he composes the majority of the band's songs during his journeys, bringing a true authenticity to the fusion. Known for his fiery and passionate violin and vocal performances, Scott's commanding presence onstage adds to the trademark power of the live Traveler shows. He also brings traditional instruments from his journeys to the stage; Bouzouki,a traditional greek stringed instrument and an Arabic Oud, an ancient predecessor to the guitar.
Gary Wilson's influences range from hard rock, jazz fusion, classical and bluegrass to world music. These elements combined with his warm, heavy guitar tone bring a hard rock edge to the fusion of Traveler's music.
Marco Zavala plays drums with the heart and passion of a true musician. Influenced by Fates Warning and other progressive rock bands, Marco brings a unique, heavy and passionate edge to the sound of Traveler. Marco is a world traveler and has spent time performing in Greece and Turkey.
Justin Bartik has played with Traveler for about four years. Justin specializes in the fretless bass. His early influence stems from studying the speed licks of Iron Maiden's bass virtuoso, Steve Harris, which helped him develop the speed and precision needed to perform the exotic Arabic runs and the difficult Gypsy bass lines of Traveler's music.
Kimberly Lambros has been with the band from its beginning six years ago. Growing up with the exotic island music of her Greek heritage, Kim brings an authentic ethnic feel to the band. Her passion for percussion shows in her unique approach to the finger cymbals. Kim has become known for her extreme finger cymbal trills.
Eric Zang adds to the exotic overtone of Traveler through his skillful mastery of multiple ethnic instruments. Eric plays from the heart, bringing high energy and the traditional element to the fusion onstage. He has travelled to many foreign lands and studied music in Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria. He brings a wide variety of foreign instruments to the stage including
Nay, Kaval, Oud, Zurna, hand percussion, Darbouka and Djembe
Shawna McGuire grew up listening to the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and the Beatles. After her journeys through Greece, Turkey, and Egypt, she found herself heavily influenced by ethnic music. She now plays keyboards, exotic percussion, and Flamenco-style guitar with Traveler and continues her commitment to the study of world music.
