"I met Lisa Roma when she first auditioned for my singing group, the Poetic Notion Chorus. Her warm, lyrical, sultry, soaring voice blew me away and I begged her to be in a show I was directing a week later, a show of Laura Nyro's music. She sang a solo of "Emmie" in the show and sang with the chorus adding deeper dimension to the performance. Her upcoming CD of original songs showcases a rare and original vocalist and songwriter of the highest caliber. I am quite pleased to know that I will be working with her on future musical projects." ~ Rob Darnell, composer, pianist, vocalist, director of Poetic Notion Chorus. poeticnotionchorus.com , myspace.com/poeticnotionchorus //

Lisa Roma was born an artist, and grew up, in East New York, Brooklyn. Her father was her first unofficial “music teacher” whose extensive record collection helped to mold her young ears to eclectic sounds and diverse musical genres. Playing piano by ear at the age of 3, Lisa began writing poetry and composing music as a teenager. A self-styled guitarist with a 3-octave range and smooth alto-soprano, her song stylings are soulful, intimate, and honest, with an original jazz and folk weave mixed with subtle undertones of mystical Celtic and Native American Earth heartbeat rhythms.
Lisa Roma has been performing at local Brooklyn and Manhattan venues since before the new millennium. She conceived and founded the Electrik Goddess Club Orquestra (EGCO) in 2003 as a concept backup band, combining a fluctuating array of borough-wide talent. In early December 2006 Lisa joined The Poetic Notion Chorus, founded and directed by Rob Darnell. Their compatible styles thus began an ongoing musical partnership, sparking new compositions, and a musical theatre project. Their truly spiritual and musical kinship inspires constant creative interchange for lyrical poetry, melody, and theatre. Rob Darnell and Lisa Roma are the new millennium's answer to Betty Comden and Adolf Green. Rob and Lisa's collaboration sparked the combining of musical personnel, and spawned The Half Moon Theatre Company (of Brooklyn) is the umbrella for their unique new musical theatre production, music ensembles, fundraising activities, recordings and projects for this new year 2009.
The songs on this myspace are all original song compositions written by Lisa Roma. The songs are complete, however the recording of each may be at various levels of production, and yet be mastered. Some of the recordings may sound more finished than others because they are. However, we hope you listen past any imperfections, and you dig in and enjoy them for the lovely compositions that they are.
Come to our shows, you will be amazingly surprised.
