electro-acoustic workshop brings together the common ground of live improvisation in a collective setting, asking the artists to explore the new sonic pathways of IDM - Jungle - drumNbass - breakcore - freespazz - drillNbass - postjazz - avantronica -
The Electro-Acoustic Workshop is an experimental jam session which was established in February 06' at the Muse Cafe with the band Steps(74). The concept? Provide a comfortable atmosphere for both electronic, acoustic and hybrid electro-acoustic artists to explore unknown sonic territory, mainly coinciding the open-ended possibilities of live dnb - jungle - idm - drillNbass - postjazz - avantronica. Several bands have hosted this 1st thursdays monthly since the start including New Orleans' The Other Planets but Muse Cafe ultimately linked with Chicago's live dnb/avantronica quintet, 7 League Boots for the featured position. The event allows for a large depth of experimentation and networking possibilities for forward-looking improvisers that are interested in opening musical doors. hybrid electro-acoustic drum set, PA, amps, keys are all available for your usage at this open workshop/jam session. Laptopers, jazz players, programmers, homemade instruments, world instruments, percussion, guitarists, horn players, etc...are all welcome and anyone that is interested in partaking in futuristic music.
