Electrode Records is a small label from New Zealand specialising in eclectic electronica or 'eclectitronica', to coin a phrase that's hard to say and spell!
"Egyptian Lions" is the highly anticipated follow up to Sharkweek's 2006 release "The Hammerhead Nebula."
The new Sharkweek album offers lush soundscapes punctuated with surreal samples, playful melodies and manipulated found sounds. The musical themes drift between ambient, pop and dub. The songs are sometimes dreamy, sometimes deliriously playful. There's obvious evidence of Lewis' musical growth, yet it's also familiar enough to be unmistakeably 'Sharkweek'.
Spheres of inspiration include outer space, all manner of pop culture, and infomercials. Musical influence comes from varied sources such as The Orb, Banco de Gaia, Future Sound Of London, Orbital, Boards Of Canada, Lemon Jelly, Astralasia and New Zealand luminaries like Module and Pitch Black. This eclectic mix, coupled with some stellar guest appearances from other musicians makes for an evocative and sometimes surprising listening experience.
Responses from Sharkweek fans have been very positive:
"A mystical journey through lands afar ... trippy soundscapes, psychedelic ambient dub, futuristic space adventures and glitchy electro pop .. an ear orgasm of sounds that twist and turn evolving into a collection of songs that is intriguing, beautiful and a dose of epic electro trippiness. It has an otherworldly feel, yet is warm and inviting, like friendly aliens .. it's a trek into the deep dark unknown."
"There is an overwhelming feeling of being in some sort of dubbed-out dream ... an abundance of differing textures and tempos that also enhance the subconscious feel of the album (mixing the sounds of yore with those of the now) ... a powerfully contemplative effort from Sharkweek and one that will reward the listener with repeat listens."
"Sharkweek creates worlds within which any number of stories may be told. Listening to the tracks on this album will educate the senses and reorient one’s views to the vast possibilities the ambient mode can bring."

The Tom Bosley Experience and Electrode Records are proud to announce the launch of their new album, "Remix Picnic".
The TBE sound has always held a curious niche within Kiwi electronica. Tracks have ranged from the poppy-joyous through jazz improv to darkside with a self-loathing edge. On the way they’ve met and mingled with similarly minded musicians and gained a few friends on the way.
It’s here that you can hear the outcome of those friendships in the form of remix tracks by a number of the artists they’ve come to know.
Included are the destructive noise of Sick Cycle, Romantech’s trademark intelligent DnB, the electro-punk stylings of rising star SoNic Smith, kitchen-sink downbeat from Sharkweek, lush electronica from Stray Theories, the glitchy melancholia of Hummel, and the glacial dub experiments of Thalidomide Dog.

So i just wanted to make you aware that I've just recently released my New Debut Album "Native Planet," for FREE download at www.deliciousmusic.co.nz/invadertron
In this work I've attempted to explore sonic-scapes and habitats, using mental imagery and emotions to express places that can only be imagined. Trudging through dark valleys, windswept hillsides and gaping horizons. Past forgotten civilizations in the deep green,. Then to rest in a place of quiet solitude.
