"If jazz ran helter-skelter through the house of funky rock, Electropolis would be riding piggyback, grabbing a handful of hair. This album is a danceable, can't-wrap-your-head-aroundable fusion of chaos and order. In this context, fusion means the process of atomic nuclei coming together to release unfathomable energy. This music is simultaneously its own invention and the invention of former jazz geeks, a Minneapolis foursome who have juiced up their horns and bass by plugging them into electronic components. Their 'electrosax' and 'electrumpet' are fitting for the uniquely joined form, a sort of experimental rock that transforms itself, jazzlike, in each performance. It's the bomb, chickadees."

HELP OUT by buying FOR NEW ORLEANS here!

WELCOME TO OUR MYSPACE SITE!
Drop us a line, and let us know you're out there . . .

Look at the left-hand column here to buy our new critically acclaimed CD "Electropolis." Here's a few kind words about it from some music writers

"This album is a danceable, can't-wrap-your-head-aroundable fusion of chaos and order. In this context, fusion means the process of atomic nuclei coming together to release unfathomable energy." UTNE READER

"Electropolis is a band beyond genre, performing post-apocalypse tunes you can dance to . . . Think of Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and Jack Johnson sessions and throw in some Medeski, Martin and Wood. Add some trip-hop, funk, punk. Now throw away the keyboards and guitar. This is an eclectic mix of sounds that seems vaguely familiar like a half forgotten dream." JAZZ POLICE

"Cool and utterly absorbing. (Rating: 5+)" BABYSUE.com

We sure would be TICKLED if you left us a little note in the comments section below!

THE STORY ON ELECTROPOLIS, THUS FAR: Electropolis (http://www.electropolis-net.com) began in 2000, when drummer Steve Roehm wanted to see what would happen if he got 3 alpha males together to make music with no rules. That led to a series of sessions with Roehm (formerly with the Denton, TX funk rockers BILLY GOAT, some other members went on to play with KDTU, Critters Buggin), trumpeter Kelly Rossum, and saxophonist Michael Ferrier. They played with a variety of bassists, eventually inviting longtime friend and bassist extraordinaire Michael O'Brien into the lion's den with them.

One of the main foundations of the group is the idea of experimentation, but with the particular perspective of the audience taken into consideration. So, copious electronic devices and free improvisation became the norm for their developing sound, but never at the expense of absolute fun. The pretension and navel-gazing of most music that is labelled "experimental" was out the window. That led to out-there sounds that you could still tap your toes to, and a decidedly pop sensibility permeates the otherwise free-form compositions.

In 2004 Electropolis began to explore multi-media presentation in earnest, most notably in their week-long Fringe Festival collaboration with VJ Neverwas improvising on video (aka Chris Cunningham of downtown NYC fame), and their live and in-person soundtrack to the silent masterpieces "METROPOLIS," and "THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI." The no-pretense-allowed approach to these works has served them well, and audiences have positively bubbled with glee at their interpretations and the sheer imagination they have brought to the performances.

In 2005 Electropolis decided to release a long-playing self-titled disc on Innova Recordings (http://www.innova.mu), to critical acclaim. 2005 also saw the departure of bassist Michael O'Brien to NYC (gigging with JAZZ MANDOLIN PROJECT, among others), and the arrival of bassist Brian Roessler (formerly of SPYMOB among others).

Hey :)

Check it out! I wrote a free book on music production! It's for total beginners, but if you aren't new to music production, maybe you'll still learn something... at least you can send it to your friends who always want to ask you a billion questions about music production! It's totally free too; my goal with this is to accumulate as many BFF's as possible.

To download, go to http://www. donimusic. com/musicproductionschool/

Keep on increasing that peace!

Air Museum has just teamed up with SWAPBEATS. COM to make a short film about the recording process using SwapBeats for Air Museum's debut single. Be sure to check out SwapBeats. com over the next couple of weeks to view the video and the process on SwapBeats' HOME page. A little something about SwapBeats: SwapBeats provides an online marketplace for musicians to buy, sell, and/or swap their individual music tracks, while collaborating and gaining inspiration through an online community. If you're a musician, you should know about SwapBeats.
They just launched (TODAY!) and are looking for musicians to build a community for musicians - Let's help them!

Some bands just stand the test of time.. Some groups just have the chemistry that makes the grade.. Some talent is simply brilliant.. Sometimes a collection of souls keeps one listening just because they own the 'thing'.. Electropolis is the 'thing'.. They own it..
