After the production of the project “Another Path”, the Elegy of Madness go on their path by the first coproduced full length called “The Bridge of Sighs”.
During the spring of 2007, the Elegy undertake “another path” that could bring them back to a different world made of music and emotions, leaving behind the problematic earthly reality. It seems like a “spleen” towards the existence, a will to escape from the real world.
The detach from the daily is a very important theme also resumed in the new project “The Bridge of Sighs”. This bridge really exists in Venice and still remains the subject of many legends. According to one of them, in the XVII century the bridge served to the prisoners to arrive into the dungeons. Someone said that the prisoners sighed during the passage, the last moment to look for their Venice and the outside world. The bridge also represents a suspension between different realities, in particular between Tonal (normal consciousness) and Nagual (separated world). So it indicates all the things that go beyond the everyday life.
The purpose is to reach an union point between the two dimensions.
“Prelude” and “Elegy of Madness” indicate the beginning of the listen. Both of them explain, in their texts and music, the meaning of the name of the band: the elegy seen as a passionate and tormented essay is connected to madness, the only mood to make use of the instinctive part instead of the rational one.
The tracks included in the disc take again two songs already placed in the first project: Another Path and Voices.
Moreover, it’s very important explain the meaning of the Suite “Agony Part 1” and “Agony Part 2- Sad Wind”: they take up the actual theme of euthanasia. While in the first musical movement the argument is faced through the perspective of the patient, in the second one it’s stressed the sense of powerlessness that haunt his relatives.
Since the “Suite Agony”, it takes inspiration another track called “Threshold” in which you can imagine a path beyond life passing through the so known “three doors”.
Among the other pieces, it’s also very important remember No Names because of its meaning. Indeed, it’s an allusion to the last chapter of “Uno,nessuno,centomila” wrote by the Italian Pirandello: the society imposes to men many masks to be worn from whom the protagonist wants to escape. Men are conceived as an infinite and free flux of energy. Therefore, we can say that le “fil rouge” that connects the two projects is the will to go beyond the ordinary world.
Generally speaking, we can say that the composition of Elegy of Madness band derive from the musical influences of each member, and in particular from bands such as: Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, Dream Theater, Rammstein and Stratovarius.
The main objective of the band is to communicate to its listeners, the musical passion of all its musicians: the unique source from which the EoM take their force and energy to face the right difficulties and the remarkable sacrifices that the musical word imposes.
BIOGRAPHY
The group was created during the spring 2006 thanks to the guitarist Antonio Tomasicchio. The purpose is to create a typically gothic sound introducing progressive themes, too.
The initial line-up was composed by: Tony (guitars), Alex (bass), Marcello (keyboards), Nico (drums) and Anja (voice). This band worked to create the first demo called Another Path, promoted during many national live shows.
The first and last change in the line-up concerned the substitution of the drummer Nico with Roberto Raio.
Another Path has also been reviewed and interviewed by many significant magazines.
During one of the exhibitions of the band at 5° South’s Cheyenne Festival, an important contest, the Elegy of Madness were pointed out from Mario Riso, director of Rock Tv’s channel and drummer of the Razophonic group. After that, Elegy of Madness were invited to play during the program “Salaprove”, transmitted in all Europe through SKY in November and December 2007 and January 2008.
All the unpublished songs that characterize Another Path have also been placed in the programming of many Italian, American and Spanish radios.
Elegy of Madness have now recorded their first full length, called “The Bridge of Sighs” through which they’ve signed their first contract with the well known “Sweet Poison Records”, one of the most serious Italian realities in this field belonging to the group POCI ONE -FUEL-LOST SOUND.

In seguito alla realizzazione del progetto “Another Path”, gli Elegy of Madness proseguono il loro percorso con la coproduzione del primo disco: “The Bridge of Sighs”.
Nella primavera del 2007 gli Elegy intraprendono un “Altro Sentiero” che li possa ricondurre ad un mondo diverso fatto di musica ed emozioni, distaccandosi dalla problematica realtà terrena. Una sorta di spleen nei confronti dell’esistenza, una volontà di evadere.
Il tema cardine del distacco dal quotidiano viene ripreso anche nel nuovo full lenght: “The Bridge of Sighs”. “Il ponte dei sospiri”, struttura davvero esistente a Venezia, è diventato oggetto di diverse leggende. Secondo una di queste, nel 17° secolo il ponte serviva da passaggio per i reclusi alle prigioni. La leggenda vuole che i detenuti sospirassero davanti alla triste prospettiva di vedere per l’ultima volta il loro mondo esterno. Il ponte rappresenta però anche qualcos’altro secondo altre leggende: una sospensione tra una realtà e un’altra, in particolare tra il tonal (coscienza normale) e il nagual (realtà separata). Indica quindi tutto ciò che va oltre. Lo scopo è quello di raggiungere un punto d’unione tra le due dimensioni.
“Prelude” ed “Elegy of Madness” sono i brani che segnano l’inizio dell’ascolto. Entrambi spiegano nelle loro musiche e nei testi, il significato del nome del gruppo: l’elegia intesa come componimento appassionato e tormentato viene accostata alla follia, unica arma per poter usufruire più della parte istintuale piuttosto che di quella razionale.
Inoltre, le tracce contenute nel disco riprendono due canzoni inserite nel primo lavoro: Another Path e Voices.
Determinante è anche il significato della Suite composta dai brani “Agony Part. 1” e “Agony Part 2 (Sad Wind)”, che riprendono l’attuale tema dell’eutanasia: mentre nel primo movimento viene affrontato l’argomento dalla prospettiva del paziente, nel secondo viene messo in evidenza il senso di impotenza che attanaglia i suoi cari.
Dalla Suite “Agony” prende spunto il brano Threshold, in cui si immagina un ipotetico percorso oltre la vita oltrepassando i cosiddetti “tre varchi”.
Tra i brani spicca però per il suo significato No Names, cioè un riferimento all’ultimo capitolo di uno, nessuno, centomila di Pirandello: la società impone all’uomo una serie di forme da assumere e maschere da indossare da cui il protagonista cerca di liberarsi in nome di un ricongiungimento con il Tutto senza forma. Uomo così concepito come libero e infinito flusso di energia.
Dunque si può dire che le fil rouge che lega entrambi i lavori sia proprio la volontà di andare al di là dell’ordinario.
In generale, è possibile affermare che la composizione degli Elegy Of Madness trae ispirazione dalle influenze musicali di ogni componente, con particolare riferimento a gruppi come: Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, Dream Theater, Rammstein e Stratovarius.
L’obiettivo degli Elegy Of Madness rimane quello di poter comunicare, a chi li ascolta, la passione musicale dei singoli elementi: unica fonte di energia da cui il gruppo trae la forza necessaria per poter affrontare le giuste difficoltà ed i notevoli sacrifici che il mondo della musica impone.
BREVE STORIA DEL GRUPPO
Il gruppo nasce nella primavera del 2006 per iniziativa del chitarrista Antonio Tomasicchio (Tony). L’intento è quello di creare sonorità tipicamente gotiche inserendo anche tempi e virtuosismi progressivi.
La formazione iniziale vede: Tony alla chitarra, Alex al basso, Nico alla batteria, Marcello alle tastiere e Anja alla voce. Il gruppo così composto si concentra nella composizione di inediti dando vita alla prima demo “Another Path”, pubblicizzata durante numerosi live a livello regionale e nazionale.
Il primo ed ultimo cambio di line-up riguarda la sostituzione del batterista Nico, al quale subentra Roberto Raio.
Nel frattempo “Another Path” viene recensita e pubblicizzata da noti mensili italiani e stranieri e il gruppo rilascia numerose interviste su giornali di rilievo.
Durante un’esibizione al 5° South’s Cheyenne Festival, gli Elegy of Madness vengono notati da Mario Riso il quale invita la band a partecipare al programma Salaprove di Rock Tv,trasmesso su SKY. Tale esibizione viene poi proiettata nei mesi di novembre e dicembre 2007 e gennaio 2008.
I quattro brani inediti caratterizzanti la prima demo vengono anche inseriti nella programmazione di radio italiane, spagnole e messicane.
Gli Elegy of Madness hanno adesso inciso il loro primo full lenght dal titolo “The Bridge of Sighs” che è diventato il progetto caratterizzante il loro primo contratto con la nota Sweet Poison Records, una delle realtà discografiche italiane più serie appartenenti a gruppo POCI ONE -FUEL-LOST SOUND.

1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
