Elektronavn is Magnus Olsen Majmon who makes hybrid music and occasionally crosshappenings. Typically with the help of field-recordings, acoustic and electric instruments, lovely helpfull musicians, and sometimes with computers, samples and performances.
Elektronavns music really covers a very wide range of so called genres. It could be soundcollages, drones, psych-rock, raga-works, impro, free, psychedelia, folk, avant-classical, audio-monochromes, soft noise, spiritual mystique ...
Favoured and recently used instruments: the human voice, zurna, tanpoura, hurdy-gurdy, the ocean, bowed guitar, gongs, clarinet, birds, cello, violin, bansuri flute, kyotaku, sithar, zither, udo, mridangam, bass drums, mandolin, nature sounds/city sounds ...
A way Elektronavns different works develop could be illustrated by the following case: A work from 2005 ‘Audelà l'inconnu (vertical)’ has a special story: Three different musicians were asked - one by one - to improvise in a long dark tunnel under some railway-tracks a late night 2005 in Copenhagen SV. The three musicians were a classical operasinger, a hurdy-gurdy player and an impro-guitarist. Elektronavn recorded it and actually we also made a long music video from this night-session with the trains making obscure sounds ahead of us.
