Music Speaks Productions is a production company (owned by Element Studios Dan Foster) that specialises in all forms of artist/band production. This covers writing, recording, mixing, editing, session playing and audio promos/adverts.
MSP has recently invested in Engineer Dave Runkee’s studio ‘ELEMENT STUDIO’S’. This investment has added a new large professionally designed control room to the existing complex, greatly enhanced the acoustic properties of the original live rooms and installed all of MSPs professional high end recording equipment.
Dan studied Engineering/Production at the prestigious school of audio engineering (SAE) where upon graduation he went on to produce artists for the Music Factory in Rotherham, Yorkshire, such as Sweet Box, Dana International, Jane Macdonald and Manchester United to name a few. Additional to this Dan has worked extensively in the Radio industry and toured internationally as a professional Keyboard player.
MSP boasts 25 years of musical expertise and offers a fully qualified and experienced engineering service. These two qualities provide MSP with a musically sensitive, passionate and technically proficient approach to the art of music production.
MSP now uses Element studios (Hull city centre, Yorkshire) as its primary tracking facility. The benefits of this partnership combine professional, old school tracking ethos with the Hi Tec, modern, evolved mixing environment that MSP has to offer.
MSP believes in audio quality and core engineering values and uses the finest equipment for todays high end standards and its hospitality is of paramount importance to the musical experience.
If you require any further information or advice please don't hesitate to contact Element Studio.
Element Studio was set up in the summer of 2008 by musician and studio manager Dave Runkee. It was Dave's plan to create a quality but affordable recording facility in Hull, where bands of all types could lay down professional recordings for a reasonable price, whether it be a demo an EP or an album.
After a lot of hard work, finding a suitable site (just above the Chocolate Factory rehearsal rooms), building the facility and budgeting and buying equipment Dave had himself a studio. The studio was great and ran well over the coming months giving plenty of local bands good recordings and friendly service.
In late 2008 Dave invited round a recording engineer friend and MSP production company owner (Dan Foster) to look at his studio in use. Dan, an experienced engineer, was very impressed with the hard work and effort that had been put in by Dave and felt that the studio was a great starting point that would lend itself very well to an expansion, mainly due to the location and the amount of free units available next to the current studio.
It was with this in mind that Dan decided to pile his time, money and effort into joining Dave for the expansion of Element Studio and a joining forces of Element and Music Speaks Productions. The pair took on a unit next to the current live room, that would become the new studio's control room, and set about building a top notch, exciting new recording studio in the heart of Hull.
In March 2009, after many long days and nights of manual labour (building a new control room from scratch), Dave and Dan quit music and became professional builders! Or at least they could have done. No, instead, in March 2009 all their hard work became apparent as their new studio opened its doors and began recording as Hull's (let's say the north's) most exciting new professional recording studio.
The Present
Element Studio boasts a range of quality facilities such as a professional sound designed control room, a spacious treated live room and two further recording booth's for either vocals or guitar/bass. The studio also boasts a healthy range of quality microphones and equipment that includes the following:
• Soundcraft 6000 36 channel Bantam patch bay professional recording console.
• Professional mix computer utilising UAD mix cards and TC Electronic processors.
In addition to this the studio has access to a chill out room containing a TV, comfy seating and food and drink facilities.
The Future
So, what does the future hold in store for Element Studio? Well, the coming months will see further expansion and development of areas of the live room and vocal/ guitar booths as well as a host of talented musicians passing through its doors. There will be continuous deals popping up at various times and exciting affiliations with various industry players to pitch talent to.
Nobody knows exactly where the studio will be in one, five or ten years time but if all the hard work undertaken in the last year is anything to go by then the sky is the limit!
If I were you, I would keep watching this space!
