Elemotion Apparel and Movement Arts formed when life partners Ryan and Charity McGuire made the decision to collaborate artistically and create a small family business that incorporates many of the aspects in life that they have found to create a more positive space in existence. Some of these aspects include eco-friendly clothing and a healthier lifestyle by means of the movement arts such as yoga, tai-chi, poi, hooping and many of the fire arts.
Our clothing line at Elemotion Apparel and Movement Arts focuses on natural materials such as organic cotton, hemp and bamboo and are made for everyday use and comfort. We carry Thai Fisherman pants that are specifically designed for maximum comfort, movement and style. The cotton pants are handmade by artists in Thailand in a fair trade and sweatshop free environment, meaning that the actual artists are 100% compensated for the products that they create. They also work a normal 8 hour work day with some of the highest paying salaries and benefits in Thailand. These wonderful people work very hard to provide us with high quality products and we feel that it is our responsibility to make sure that we do our part to support this cause. In addition to the cotton pants, Charity and I make our own version of the Thai Fisherman pants out of hemp fabric in our home.
Elemotion’s custom t-shirts are printed with water based inks on American Apparel’s 100% organic cotton and hemp clothing line. Our designs are collaborative ideas that developed between us and one of Columbus, Ohio’s best artists Durb Morrison (www.durbster.com and www.hellcity.com). The designs include sacred geometric patterns and mandalas along with elements that display what we refer to as “Meditation Through Movement”.
Charity has been an accomplished seamstress and jewelry designer for just over a decade. Both her clothing and her jewelry rely heavily on natural elements, symmetry and complementary color patterns. All of her jewelry is carefully handcrafted using only top quality sterling silver and gemstones that possess healing properties. Charity’s versatility and style make way for unique pieces that take on their own energy and make anyone who wears it look that much more beautiful.
Ryan is a professional Poi artist (or Poi-ist as some people refer) from Columbus, Ohio. He started messing around with poi just to have something to do in his down time. Quickly, the art of poi began to take over his life and he made the decision to dedicate as much time to it as possible. During his exploration of the art, he found poi to be a great way to improve his overall health. Through poi, he has become more aware of the abilities of his mind, body and spirit all the while having a great time doing it. Poi has also led him to practice yoga and incorporate those concepts into his spinning. His ultimate goal is to help spread the message of “Meditation Through Movement” and help to create a whole new style of poi spinning combined with other movement arts.
As a team, we believe that we can reach out to people in a positive way by providing products and services that have helped us to find the path to a harmonious lifestyle. We invite you all to join in this excursion and enjoy the time we all have together on this place we call Earth.
