Born in Venice, Elena Camerin began her musical studies on piano and later began studying voice at the " Thelonious Monk" jazz school with Carla Marcotulli. Shortly thereafter, she began to study opera under soprano Francesca Scaini.
In 1992, she attended the clinic of Bob Stoloff in Umbria Jazz '92 and continued with jazz singing, participating in master-classes and workshops with Jay Clayton, Ines Reiger, Rachel Gould, Mark Murphy and Sheila Jordan.
In 1994 she joined the gospel choir "Venice Gospel Ensemble" as soloist, and with them, recorded CDs " Let's Take Time Out", "Christmas Time Out" and "Ol'westbound Coach", and also participated in the musical "Fra Cielo e Terra". With this choir she sang in important theaters and national television shows. Some years later, she joined the Afro-Cuban Quartet "Mi Ritmo", with whom she recorded the Cd "Guajira".She works as jazz singer with several groups in Italy and with her own group in clubs and theaters; she also works as vocalist for other artists on the national scene. She worked as "living installation" at the Biennale 2003, in Venice, for the young artist Tino Sehgal; and she often works in performances with Walter Sabato, actor and director in shows. In 2005 she recorded the CD "GRAZIE DEI FIORI?" under the label "Caligola Records", dedicated to the Italian song of the 50es.

Since 1996, she has had much success as a vocal teacher at important schools in the Veneto area.
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends! We've added two blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our page. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too. We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy. Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large. What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Just headed out for an evening of jazz, you're so welcome to go along tonight. Designing a vocal booth this weekend that will take up some closet space. Already have enough shoes! Hope you and Carol will stop by some weekend, sweetie... when it is not too incredibly busy.
Miss you!
JM
