Thaissa Luna, aka Eletricat, is Brazilian but has been living in Scotland since she was 12 years old. She has been dancing all her life. "In Brazil dance is part of your everyday! You feel it and enjoy it!" She has been teaching dance, choreographing bands & her own dance group, performing as a freestyle solo dancer also with bands & DJs in UK and abroad for the past 13 years. Her dance group also perform around UK & abroad! Eletricat co-ordinates the movement part of a project with Perth & Kinross council with primary school kids which is very successful. Her style, 'Eletricat Dance', as developed by herself, is a mix of many dance styles, but mainly a fusion of Brazilian dances with other Afro-Latin dances in a contemporary, round, sensual and powerfull electric style. Movements are free and all about energy & relaxing the body. Classes & workshops are not only fun but very energetic & a complete workout. Some of her dance background includes Lambada, Forro, Street Samba & Samba no Pe (with Danca de Salao do Recife), Sambareggae, Capoeira & Orixa (with Grupo Ile Aye & Abolicao Capoeira- Salvador, Bahia), Maracatu (with Maracau Estrela Brilhante amongst others- PE, Recife), Frevo, Ciranda & Caboclinho (with Bale Popular do Recife), Contemporary (with Brazilian/New York Dancer Marcelo Pereira), Jazz & Ballet (various schools in Glasgow), Salsa (with Tumbao), Tribal Belly-dance (workshops with various teachers) & Yoga (at Casa Shiva - Recife/Brazil). Eletricat's classes also blend in Fitness exercises & Yoga stretches at the end promoting the complete electrifying body experience! Eletricat has been DJing since 1998 and running her own Brazilian club nights - Carnaval Night, since 2000. Carnaval Night is Scotland's biggest Traditional Brazilian Club www.carnavalnight.com. Eletricat & her dancers have performed for the Young Scot Awards for the Sunday Mail, 7 times at Glastonbury Festival with Rhythm Wave Band & around the world with Macumba Band. Eletricat has performed with Tigerstyle DJs for The British Council’s UK Flavours Festival in Russia, filmed by BBC TV London at her own club night - Carnaval Night for Dance X series (2006) and filmed by BBC TV Scotland at Comic Relief Event amongst various other shows around UK and abroad. Eletricat Dance Group's 45min Choreographed Show (as performed at Glastonbury in 2009) brings together Carnival Samba Dance and freestyle performances + Capoeiristas, while Rhythm Wave Band play a groovy mix of Rap, Sambareggae & middle eastern beats! Eletricat's regular classes take place in Glasgow's Stow West Studios in the west end of Glasgow. All classes are mixed levels so beginners are welcome at anytime!
