Bio
When a new band tries to break through into the music industry it is often faced with a time old problem, to allow their sound to be accessible to popular genres, but also having the spark of originality which sets them out from the crowd that proved their inspiration.
Elevated started out in early 2004 to fulfill James’ (drums) and John’s (bass) need to play the music they loved.
They recruited Jamie to play guitar. He already had experience of playing and gigging with other bands which set him out as an obvious choice.
Joining shortly after was Firth, the singer of Jamie’s previous band. His vocal talents and striking on stage charisma make the band an exhilarating live spectacle.
With the first four members installed, Elevated went about the exciting prospect of writing together, gigging and making some rougher demo recordings.
After a year of development, and new songs, such as ‘Insert Your Name Here’, finding themselves a far cry from the original sound created, the need for a new element was obvious within the band.
Kyle (guitar) joined the band after seeing them perform live at a local venue. With vastly different musical influences to Jamie, but the same love of heavy music, he was the perfect addition to the bands dynamic.
After Kyle fully found his feet in the band they went to the studio to record ‘What’s Still to Come,’ (the first part of the demo included.)
The songs proved the benchmark of the sound Elevated had created. The moody and intense heaviness of ‘Insert Your Name Here,’ along with the more upbeat and catchy elements of ‘Words Have Consequences’; are a diverse mix, and defiantly set out what was still to come from the band.
With a first demo complete, and a local fan base established, the band went about writing new material as a five piece. The new songs coming from the practice room sounded fuller, heavier and even a shade darker. This duly prompted the band to go back to the studio to record three more tracks under the title ‘Weight on My Mind.’
The demo shows the band’s development in song writing, but stays true to their unwavering heaviness.
Since recording the band continued to write new songs and regularly played well attended gigs.
A couple of days before one of these gigs Elevated decided to have Pete join them on stage for a few songs.
The contrast in vocal styles to Firth, and the vibrant crowd reaction prompted the band to invite Pete to try out.
After some successful practices Pete became an official member of Elevated. This puts the band at a huge advantage, considering the genre they find themselves in. Having two vocalists that can sing and scream is rare for this type of band, but this depth adds much to the power on stage.
With their drive, genuine love to play music, and a varied mix of influences from Lost Prophets to Norma Jean, Unearth to Glassjaw all apparent in the music Elevated are an exciting prospect for any metal fan.
