In a time when posthumous rappers out-sell the living and pop idly plays out its swan song on national TV, Elia's music is a breath of fresh air; a testament to what can happen when raw passion, dedication and musical talent collide. To put his songs in one category - other than the broadstroke of 'soul' - would be to miss the point: his is the kind of music that dances between genres.
Growing up touring the world with his jazz musician parents - who played with the likes of Quincy Jones and Duke Ellington - Elia was centre stage doing his thing by the age of five. His love of songwriting was nurtured by 80's pop, his obsession with funk and groove by 70's funk and his love of production by 90's-and-beyond breakbeats. These influences play out not only in his own material but in the tracks he writes and produces for other artists.
Now he is quickly gaining a devoted audience with his atmospheric live shows. Elia has assembled a band who know how to turn the Richter Scale up to 10 - prompting national UK newspaper The Guardian to write a "Why I Love Elia Rulli" column and Attitude magazine to compare him to Stevie Wonder, Prince and Oscar Wilde.
Does that mean I'm spending too much time here? Looking forward to hearing and commenting on your new songs. We have been a bit lazy on the new song front, having put a lot of energy into our live performances and trying to beat the agent cartel that's determined to stop us from working at the popular venues. We do have a new song on the way though.......... Have a good day. Steve
We are still trying to source merchandise that is up to Gary's exacting standards. We hope to have Sound Extension nipple clamps in store by the end of the year.
I hope you'll like at least one of my tracks as much i like yours :)
I finally decided to put some of my works, that have been evolvin in past few years, in one "folder". Let's call it an Album. Or Release... Anyway, you get the point ;)
