- Elias has been playing guitar for 18 years and writing songs for 13. He has played with various latin and Greek bands and also spanish guitar ensembles. The Debut album was recorded at Alchemix Studios under the watchful eye of Matt Whitehouse and Mixed by Tim Baker.
It was recorded under live circumstances to keep an organic intimate feel throughout.
" It wasn't easy to record this way, but it is the only way I would want to do it. This is my style and this is how i do it. '
Elias grew up in Brisbane Australia and spent a few of his early years on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. His father is an architect and his mother an artist. However it seems the musical gene skipped a generation, as his grandfather was a singer.
“ My Grandfather used to sing old Greek and Italian songs at weddings, like besame mucho and ti amo. He had an amazing voice.” He states.
Elias likes to play soccer in his spare time and write songs also. To Elias there is nothing better than chilling out with a pencil and paper and his guitar and writing some lyrics and maybe a song will be born. Maybe not.
Elias’s spiritual side is something that he does not like to talk about because he believes that if you do, you cheapen it.
“ I have my own beliefs. I read a lot of Buddhist texts, but I would rather not call myself anything. It is between me and the divine.”
Family is the most important part of Elias’ life. Being of Greek ancestry it is still crucial that the family gets together and has a meal at least once a week.
Elias also likes to surf when he can at Noosa National Park.
“Fishing, surfing and just being by the water are the most fulfilling things I can do. It is the reason I work hard.”
Elias’s inspiration comes from many different sources. “ Musically, I am inspired by Carlos Santana because of his feel. It is all about feel. Obviously Bob Marley, how could I not. My brother Lesson MC because he writes music that says something strong every single time. I also learn a lot not just from what musicians do but what they say."
There is a quote by my favourite flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucia, he says “ The more one suffers, the greater ones capacity to be happy becomes.”
"My teen years were really hard. I spent a lot of time at school alone, with my guitar. I guess that is where I started to find my musical voice. I was different at school because of the way I looked, with my dark hair and skin. This made me retreat into myself and my music. I wrote a lot of songs back then and I listened to a lot of heavy music.
Then I lost a close friend. He was a strong young man and he suddenly passed away during a soccer match. From that point on, my life and a lot of people’s lives were never the same. These things have taught me a lot. To seize opportunities and follow your dreams because life is a miracle, a gift. It really is. "
"Since finishing school I finished a marketing degree and started a t-shirt label with my brother called Zuko. We had a lot of success, however, we realized that we would both be happier if we did music.
So we decided to close the clothing shop and pursue our dream. "
"Music is something that I simply cant live without. It inspires me to live. It inspires me every single day. Writing it makes me feel one with creation.
And when people enjoy my music, it makes me feel complete, like I am doing what I am supposed to do. "
Elias is planning a trip to Japan, where he hopes to share his music. He has already received airplay on Cocolo FM. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of John Butler and take Japan by storm.
