At age 16, Eli Goldsmith became the youngest musician in the history of the Vans Warped Tour, playing drums in the pop punk band Slimer (Cargo Records) and touring with acts such as Eminem, Blink-182, Black Eyed Peas, Lit, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, Less Than Jake, The Vandals and Ice T. However, at 18 Eli decided to exchange his drumsticks for textbooks and attend Princeton University in New Jersey, where he studied politics and was elected president of his class all four years. Although it appeared that Eli had abandoned music in favor of more scholarly pursuits, he began singing and songwriting and was subsequently invited to perform at large-scale University arts events and other local venues while his single "A Casual Thing" spread rapidly throughout east coast college campuses.
Over the last three years, Eli has been invited to perform in major cities across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Philadelphia, as well as major venues all over Southern California, such as the Viper Room, Hotel Cafe, and House of Blues in Hollywood.
On July 30, 2007, Eli released "She's an Actress," a six-song EP that marked his first album with worldwide digital distribution. On September 18, 2008, Eli released "She's an Actress" -- the music video, starring Trish Coren and directed by POOLSIDE (Luke Frydenger and Amanda Philipson). See below.
On October 1, 2009, Eli released two new brand songs, entitled "The Fire's Out and I Can Breathe Again" and "Hold Nothing Back," which are available now on Apple iTunes . These tracks were produced, recorded, and mixed by Will Golden and Al Sgro (Meiko, Holly Conlan), and accompanying Eli in the studio were guitarist Cory Joseph Clark, drummer John Bach, and bassist Luke St. Hilaire.
Keeping alive his other great passion -- educational access in America -- Eli currently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Education Policy and Management at Harvard University.
The son of a jazz musician and a 5th grade teacher, Eli has benefited from a modest upbringing characterized by an appreciation for artistry, education, family and love.
