His interest in writing music culminated in a Master's Degree in Composition at Texas State University. In 1997, Elias was awarded the Jazz Instrumental Soloist College Outstanding Performance for the 20th Annual Downbeat Student Music Awards and in 1998, Elias was awarded the Mitte Scholarship from Texas State for academic achievement. Elias taught theory, saxophone and composition at Texas State in San Marcos for a year before moving to New York. Recently, after 4 years & 3 months in Brooklyn, Elias has returned to his roots in Austin where he pursues his dream of playing music and living a balanced life.
Elias has recorded 4 critically acclaimed CD's; Standards, For the Moment, Kicks are For Kids, and Dream Story - all of which have been played on radio stations around the world. Elias' playing has drawn comparisons to John Coltrane, Ben Webster, and Sonny Rollins.

Thanks so much for the add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends!
We hope you and your friends enjoy our music, too. We've just added four new compositions and two new blogs about Umano.
We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.
It also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other.
We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.
What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Just dropped by to show some love, and thank U again for bein' a FRIEND/fan...Check out the ORIGINAL tunes just uploaded (especially Mr Politician) Put us in your TOP friends if you have room,so you can easily check our upcoming shows schedule on the page often ...Marvin
