Writer/Director/Enterpreneur/Activist
ELISHA MIRANDA is a Puerto Rican that was born and raised in the "Mission" district of San Francisco, California and has been residing in New York City since 1998. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a dual BA in Ethnic Studies and English. Prior to heading to NYC she had been an activist and educator around numerous issues effecting youth and the community. She received her MFA in film (directing and screenwriting) from Columbia University. At Columbia, her awarding winning short films, CORPORATE DAWGZ and BLIND DATE screened and garnered awards both nationally and internationally. Her debut novel, THE SISTA HOOD: ON THE MIC was released in July of 2004 and is the first book in a four part young adult series. Recently, THE SISTA HOOD was optioned for a film and she is now working on the screenplay adapation. Currently, Elisha is in development with her feature film OUTSIDE THE WALL and is now working on her next novel which will be called LOVELINES. A KISS FOR LARES, her first erotica novela is forthcoming from Atria/Simon & Schuster in JUICY MANGO: THE BEST OF LATINA EROTICA (2007). Elisha has adapted A KISS FOR LARES into a short film which she will soon direct.
Elisha is also a Co-Founder of CHICA LUNA PRODUCTIONS, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women of color reach the highest levels of achievement in film, television, radio and print media through promoting the advancement, development and
funding of their media. Chica Luna Productions exists to develop and support women of color in entertainment media who strive to use popular media to promote social justice for their communities. Also an enterpreneur, she is the Vice-President of UNIQUE MORTGAGE SOLUTIONS and is the President of CHICA SOL MULTI-MEDIA which creates popular media by and about Latinos, as well as serves as the umbrella company for any of her E-Fierce or Elisha Miranda projects. With her good friend and business partner Sofia Quintero (aka Black Artemis), Elisha recently founded SISTER OUTSIDER ENTERTAINMENT, a company with several projects in development for television, film and stage. Currently, SOE is writing a pilot television show featuring an all Latina ensemble called SANGRIA STREET for the 'N' a division of Nickelodeon.
