I sing songs and play with pianos. When an acoustic piano is available, I like to reach into its body and pluck or strum the strings (in honour of John Cage, Henry Cowell, and other pioneers of extended piano techniques). I am an advocate for the preservation of public pianos. Keyboards just don't have the same soul.

Quotes "Elizabeth Bruce has a powerful voice that you can tell she's been working to tame. Her compositions don't go the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift. In fact the piano arrangements were delightfully dissonant. The lyric content put her squarely into the emoter category, but there was a dramatic self-awareness... helpful, even necessary to navigating her dark themes." -Marcus McCann
"Elizabeth Bruce is the only person I know who calls herself, 'a molester of pianos.' Which concerns me greatly." -Alan Neal
“Elizabeth was amazing! I had only seen her perform once before, and that was good, but she really blew me away on Monday [October 8 2007]. She has this wonderful on-stage power. She looks very timid, shy, and fragile, but she also radiates power, and when she starts to sing, her voice is strong enough to have stopped the Maenads.” -Daniel Harris

The Ottawa Underground has been hosting shows since 2001, and has provided band news online for almost as long.
If you have an upcoming show, new Mp3 or album, or new video/photos, feel free to promote your band news every month or two by posting a brief press release on the Ottawa Underground wall. It will serve as a newsfeed for local bands, so yes I welcome your band news comments on my wall.
Stopping by to say Hi! We'd love if you took a minute to checkout our new video for Here I Am! It's up on our myspace page...Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Elizabeth. I wanted to invite you to a show on Saturday at Exile Infoshop (Ottawa - Bank and Cooper). I'm playing with May Jun (also Ottawan) and Two Kids Running Away (sweethearts on tour from Alberta). I'm really excited for it - think it'll be great fun.
Consider it. We could talk, maybe make connections for shows later in summer?
Whenever you do a show in the Phoenix AZ Area you can put it up for free at www.ThePhxUG.com so everyone can see when it is! No sign up just post it! Hope to see you out doing your thing!
