Good company, nice music, dancing, wondering, wandering...
For tuition on a regular basis; for a progressive improvement on Arabic/balkan rhythms and techniques so as to reach an intermediate level (if you are a beginner) or to understand better phrasing and improvisation, Elizabeth is currently giving one to one and group tuition in London. BODY PERCUSSION AND PERCUSSION WORKSHOP WITH ROBERTO CASTILLO LONDON 2009. 13th March at Bolivar Hall
NOTTAS aims at creating projects
encompassing, mainly, World and Jazz music
plus many other art forms including
film, dance, theatre, painting... It also provides
services in music promotions to individual artists
and bands with incredible musical skills and
personal history, most of them unsigned
and needing a little bit more help on bookings,
selling of CDs and exposing their work live,
which Nottas does through her events done
at various places in London.
These events have taken place at Favela Chic,
Troubadour, Vibe Live and Le QuecumBar,
under the name of ‘Absinthe’, ‘Pa’GoZA’,
and ‘I Got Rhythm’.
In addition, we are very glad to announce that,
from 2009 onwards, Nottas wants and will, organize
music workshops of various traditions for those
who want to improve and develop their skills
and knowledge on that particular music culture.
These will include, to start with, Cuban son and
rumba and Arabic Classical and folk music,
with emphasis on learning how to play the percussion
instruments, rhythm patterns and their roles.
For this, we will bring to you some of the best
teachers of these traditions in town! :)

NOTTAS was created by Elizabeth Nott, an Italian-English Venezuelan born girl who, after some years 'flirting' around all kinds of music cultures and musical instruments decided to studied Ethnomusicology at SOAS, University of London, and specialized on Arabic music and percussion on her last two years of her BA. She has continued pursuing a career as percussionist, music teacher, events organiser and anything that can fulfill her artistic ambitions.
Through Nottas, Elizabeth has had the opportunity to bring in fantastic acts to her shows around London as you can see further bellow these lines
From March 2008 Ezhaan has been Nottas resident DJ and an amazing friend who has also helped out in the promotions and, sometimes, as a good councillor ;)
Poster design collaborations have included Ed Stilman (for Absynth 17th June 2007 and Absynth 11Nov 2007) and Victoria Scott and Artur Bilinski (for I Got Rhythm, Sept 2007)

In the magicalities of a could, Between the probabilities of a would, Beyond the trivialities of a should, In these ungraspable mysticalities There lies a secret a passage… To this extraordinary wood.
But for you, it unfolds easily and true And the only thing you have to do Is press play, and you’ll have a view.
