Reading, writing, poetry, knitting (my own creations). Politics and speaking the truth. Creating/painting glass ornaments which are quite beautiful (I give as gifts to special friends). Music: harmonica - chromatics and diatonics...play some keyboard. Wish I was better at guitar. Writing my own music now. Have music playing at all times, am mostly not without a harmonica within arms' reach. Spend far too much time on my computer...however much of it is music related. Love many genres of music, especially Jazz, R&B..Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Eva Cassidy, Leon Russell, Cassandra Wilson...Annie Lennox, have every Peter White Album (jazz guitarist)...don't miss any of his NY Xmas shows with Mindi Abair and Rick Braun, and any others he'll do in the tri-state area..but am now discovering Blues...especially Blues Harmonica. Just about any genre...except Punk and Heavy Metal. Amn't overly fond of repetitiveness or dissonance... Am a fan and good friend of Jason Ricci..outrageously good harmonica player, singer and his blues band New Blood,
and am happy to be mentored by a great jazz harmonica player Smokey-Joe Leone.Movies
Casablanca, Something's Gotta Give (Nicholson, Keaton), About Schmidt (Jack again), French Kiss, Somewhere in Time...Die Hard, Jaws (the original) (so I like a real love story, escapist entertainment and getting the Heebie-Jeebies scared out of me). All the documentary-style heavy movies: Munich, etc. because someone has to bear witness. Don't go out to Movies much, though...catch them on late-night cable/satellite instead. Soon to be harmonica documentary: Pocket Full of Soul.

True life crime stories, anything forensic related...Anne Rule. Novels: Dean Koontz, Stephen King occasionally, James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Alistair McLean...all early Robert Ludlum novels. Those who wrote the Constitution guaranteeing us free speech. Martin Luther King, Whoopi Goldberg, Al Franken, the Dixie Chicks (5 Grammy's - YEAH!), Jason Ricci, Veterans against the War...those who have the nerve to stand up against bullies/intimidation and believe that same Constitution gives them the right to speak up for what they know to be true...and from June 5, 1989 - that one small body standing in front of 4 tanks in Tiananmen Square will be imprinted on my brain forever as the epitome of absolute courage.

Naturalized American. Emigrated from Scotland with my family in the 1960's. There have been many strange turns and twists in my life, have had a lot of lemons...made much lemonade. The newest twist is a renewed interest in playing harmonica which has brought many interesting people into my sphere who are now forever friends. Despite recent heartbreak, I couldn't imagine not being on the path I'm headed down...or up?
