For Fans Of August Burns Red, Duck Duck Goose, The Devil Wears Prada
When sent this collection by Elizet member, Angel, I was asked not to be too
critical. This made me brace myself when preparing for the review, but upon
turning the demos on, I was welcomed to a band mixing elements of punk,
screamo, metal, and more.
Sure, the band had some touch up work to be done, but that’s to be expected.
The second track, “The New MC”, was the first to really show potential. The
screaming vocals came out quite well, and resemble a mix of The Devil Wears
Prada and The Number 12 Looks Like You.
“What’s Up With That Dead Guy” was probably my favorite of the bunch (or at least
ties with “Vooosh!”), and featured the best vocals and instrumental sequences.
Their sound seems like one that Rise Records would definitely be attracted to.
Their breakdowns often lead into slower moments, which come out great.
The many different elements tried by Elizet are successful in my opinion. “Cuba
Divin’” was the only track that didn’t get me too interested, and I wish they
had done more growls like in “Vooosh!”, but overall, this collection of demos
is a great listen. I can’t wait to see what 2009 brings us from Elizet. I now
have a new favorite unsigned band to keep my eyes on. You can bet your ass I
will be forwarding them to Rise.....
