Influences
Musical Influences:
Violent Femmes, Pixies, Modest Mouse, Hot Hot Heat, Beck, Blues Explosion, Billy Harvey, Eels, Willie Nelson, Lost Boyz, Stevie Wonder, The Clash, Johnny Cash, The Beta Band, All Time High, Liam Lynch, Sublime, Hayseed Dixie, Billy Talent, Talking Heads, Ben Folds Five, Mishka, DJ Format, Our Lady Peace, Iggy Pop, Jurassic 5, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Nirvana, Blind Melon, Faith No More, Blur, Tenacious D, Gomez, Spin Doctors, Polysics, Weezer, Badly Drawn Boy, Kid Koala, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Doors, Death In Vegas, Krash Slaughta, Meat Puppets, The Beatles (White Album), Ween, Voicst, etc... - Are these folks really influences or am I just typing the names of bands that I like? Hmm...
Random Influences:
Thoughts, dreams, nonsense, writing degree zero, imagination, confusion, unconscious, subconscious, random, what does nothing really mean? If nothing is really nothing it shouldn't have a name because it is nothing, taking it too far, upside down, conversation, malibu and irn bru, make believe, the sweet sound of morning kazoo on the subway, smoked cheese, and on and on and on forever and ever non stop till the break of dawn...
Sounds Like
A different band every day, depending on how you listen to them! If you listen to them while reaching inside your fridge for the last individual trifle they sound a bit like a goat with a built in distortion pedal playing the blues kazoo old skool style...
Here's a little review of Operation Immigration that might help this description?
REVIEW
...It's an astonishingly diverse, stream of consciousness outpouring from the deeply odd mind of Sir Fred. Think Galliano meets Arab Strap at a Beck gig to form a Flaming Lips tribute band and you'll only have half of this bizarre but enchanting blend of scuzzy hip hop. It's like listening to a great party through a wall. Prolific, ramshackle and something approaching genius...

Record Label
Planet Groucho Records (make believe record label)
El Jugador are a four-piece alternative rock act with a twist of folk-hop, grunge pop and cow punk. They formed somewhere round about 1999 as a semi solo project artist performing strange acousto-hip-hop-pop, (...skip to the end...) when Sticks, Kat and the mighty Tosh joined the line up was complete and the music tasted sweet (*not sweet like candy, sweet like sweet hot chili sauce!).
New Album
At the moment El Jugador are recording their 2nd full length album (probably around 30 tracks) at Planet Groucho Studios... It is said to have a much dirtier rockier sound than any of their previous releases, this is due to the amount of dirty rock juice the band have been inhaling... Tracks rumoured to make it to the album include: Nardovia, Sir Fred Can't Be Dead, Eleven, Jeff's Song, Ding Ding, Did It Again, etc...
Discography
Operation Immigration (album) featured a wide range of musical flavour that tantalised the taste buds of many. The album featured collaborations with All Time High, Speech Therapy and many random artists that choose to remain nameless at this moment.
My Shoe Fell Off (e.p.) was a rockier release, experimenting a bit more into the rock side of things. If features Sir Fred's debut on the Pedal Steel Guitar... Nice.
Broken Banjo (random CD) is a collection of tracks recorded by El Jugador that didn't previously make it to a CD. It had to be made due to the demand for more songs.
Gig History
El Jugador have rocked many a stage including: King Tuts, The Boom Boom Room, The Arches, Paisley Union, The Loft, Stereo, The Magnum Theatre, Evolution Skatepark, Parkers, The Arena, The Barfly, etc...
