Our album "We Should Start Our Own Gang" is out now
elk- 'the heavy pop monster', is a beast whose hind legs and broad imposing chest contains the brothers Hedigan - Matt on bass and Lewis on drums. The remaining power antlers are composed of Shane who blazes out synth and guitar. All body parts of Elk share vocal duties. A lovely friendship binds this behemoth together and they make music while laughing and ripping the piss out of each other.
Elk released their debut album "We Should Start Our Own Gang" in January 2009. The album was recorded in June 2008 and is full of songs that range from poptastic to hardcore. Elk make plans. Elk's big plan now is to go hermit and write a lash of new material.
Some things sound people have said about us:
"All of these songs represent different sides of the same dice. And the great thing about Elk is they’ve built a solid narrative album in just 30 minutes and 10 songs (well, one of them is a 30-second interlude, but it’s brilliant): no never-ending 10-minute diversions and no senseless sonic paranoia. We Should Start Our Own Gang is like a breathtaking castle built out of the simplest materials. Less is indeed more."
Virginia Arroyo, AU Magazine.
“WSSOOG runs the rock gauntlet slashing, bashing and bruising itself on the obtuse angles of post punk, the sugary sweet synthetic sing/shout along melodies of modern day indie-pop and the fast, trashy convulsions of hardcore – like Gang of Four, Wolf Parade and Melt Banana sucking down on the same slab of Red Bull. In a word frantic!”
To celebrate the launch of their second album "Under Friendly Fire" and to mark 13 years of playing together, livewire and Hope is Noise are proud to present an Album Launch Party on Friday November 13th.

Hey ho guys. If ye're about Corcaigh on Sat 14th Nov, we're gonna be making some noise in The Crane Lane as part of our Irish tour. Twud be sweet if ye could make it..Yvonne.
Don't think so... We're kinda slowing down after this Halloween gig in Limerick for a while, planning to improve the set a bit and write a few new tunes. We spent most of October there blasting away, hit up Cork on October 2nd. We'll definitely be charging round January onwards, not too sure about the months before that.
Cheers for the add lads - I like your sounds, hope you like mine too:)! Good luck & all the best from Paul:)! (Have you watched our gig film of our Irish song 'Molly Brown':)?
Thinking of you
It all comes in view
I believe we came from the same cloud
Two drops in the ocean
Tell me again
The story of when we..
..we will be together one day..
