Elkins High School is in threat of losing our percussiuon instructor due to a lack of money in the FBISD budget. Also, Brian Stevens at Austin High School is too. Their para-professional jobs are being eliminated because the district feels that since the other high schools in our district do not have percussion specialists than neither should we. A solution to the distict is to offer them parking lot attendant or special ed teacher jobs. Please help support this cause. Many students will be affected by this loss. E-mail the the district personnel and tell them how you feel. We have been very successful because of Brian Waites. He has led the Elkins Indoor Perccussion Ensemble to a three-peat State Championship titlle. Elkins is the only current school in FBISD to compete in the Texas Color Guard Circuit Inddor Drumline contests. If we lose Brian Waites we will no longer be able to compete for future State Championship titles. PLEASE HELP!!! MANY STUDENTS' FUTURES DEPEND ON THIS!
