About me:
I've been writing YA novels for about 15 years and have published 12 so far. The newest one, out July 1, 2007, is PARROTFISH and it's about a 16-year-old female-to-male transgendered teenager. This is only the second YA book (to my knowledge) to deal with this subject. (Julie Anne Peters LUNA preceded it--check that out too!) Other novels I've written are: Lombardo's Law, Noticing Paradise, Hard Love (a Printz Honor book and Lambda Literary Award winner), What's in a Name, Gracie's Girl, Razzle, Long Night of Leo and Bree, Zigzag, Heart on my Sleeve, Sandpiper, Blind Faith. Check out my webpage at www.ellenwittlinger.com.
Who I'd like to meet:
Pedro Almodovar, Eleanor Roosevelt (too late), Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jane Smiley, Joss Whedon

Death of an Angel

You have surely heard about the tragic death of a
brave young woman who was murdered in Iran
just for peacefully protesting with her father
on the streets of Teheran.

Her Name was Neda - please remember her.

Neda

I love "Stevie in the Mirror" from "On the Edge: Stories at the Brink." Is there or will there be a full-length novel featuring Stevie?

I ordered Parrotfish and cannot wait to read it! I hope you also continue the 'Hard Love' series with one or two more books. Maybe one from Gio's POV again. I've been rereading both 'Hard Love' and 'Love and Lies' during my lunch break. I can't get enough of them! Keep writing and thank you for the amazing stories!

Hey Ellen! Thanks for accepting my request. I just checked out one of your books a few days ago and then randomly found you on here so I thought I'd add you. I almost reviewed Love and Lies on teensreadtoo.com but someone else snagged it before I got the chance.

Thanks so much for adding me. It's great to meet other book-lovers -- especially other writers -- people who understand that fiction is as important to "real life" as, well, real life.

Thank you for the friendship. As you can see, I am a writer promoting my work on myspace. I have a fiction blog where I post short stories as a way of staying in touch with fans and to give potential new readers a chance to gauge my work. It would be very cool if you'd check it out.

Thanks again,
Mark

I recently finished "Sandpiper". The whole Derrick/Sandpiper situation had me barely breathing. It was such a powerful, very realistic book. The poems were amazing.
Maybe one day you'll publish a book of poetry?
