from a recent live show review- "...Gabriel has decided that the name Ellestel should apply specifically to the electro-pop collaborations he does with Max Justus, the rest of the stuff (and he does have several personalities, his MySpace page lists electro/soul/bossa nova) will just be under his own name. He started the night with a couple of solo songs (the first mostly (totally?) in Spanish) before Justus joined him for a number of the songs from the Already Haunted EP. The made-for-TV pop of "Give Me the Sun," for which the lovely Adriel Harris provided backing vocals, is always welcome, as is the catchy "Lose Your Love". With the weather bizarrely warm, Reed worked up quite a sweat during his likeable set. He invited a number of friends to join him, notably super-producer Justin Perkins who sat in on bass and Noah Harris who played keyboard on a number of songs. Just when you thought there weren't any more tricks up his rolled-up sleeves, he ended the set with an affecting gospel ballad. Reed is proving himself to be a Jack of all musical trades..."

"Gabriel Reed is a natural singer who's voice and songs appeal with
honesty and grace. He's a kind soul and in the right hands he'll be
huge by this time next year." - Tim O'Reagan of The Jayhawks

excerpt from bio-
"While Gabriel Reed's “sophisticated pop songs” cover a lot of stylistic ground, from romantic rock and electro-pop to bossa nova and modern soul, there are several defining constants: strong songcraft and undeniable melodies sung in a soulful, multi-octave voice, a voice which often draws comparisons to Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke (Radiohead) and Brazilian pop icon Caetano Veloso. The reference to Veloso is also appropriate considering that Reed calls Tucuman, Argentina home as well as Madison, WI and occasionally sings in Spanish as well as English. Reed's lyricism reveals an artist whose diverse life experience, from a stint in the Marine Corps to his multi-cultural family, provide him with a unique perspective on the human condition and the timeless themes of love and loss, addiction and redemption.
