Formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2003, Ellie's Side Project literally began as Eleanor C. Biddle's side project from her hip-hop duo I Heart Fat Pandas as a vehicle to exhibit her craftspersonship as a songwriter and to stroke the then-humble ego of a certain Truck (then known as Ryan "the Truck"). The two quickly composed a handful of songs dealing mainly with their unhealthy fixation on Kim Deal and quiet respect for David Lovering, many of which going on to become pop classics of both Zami AND Chavez house (ok, so mainly just Zami, the Santa Cruz equivalent of the German pop charts). ESP continued to make appearances at the odd party or benefit show around the Santa Cruz area backed by a succession of drummers and frequently played shirtless (Truck often scrawling "I Hate Pink Floyd" on his chest), but was more or less eclipsed by Truck's growing participation in the not-not popular big band/swing quartet, The Most, and his rediscovered interest in Pink Floyd coupled with Biddle's increased sexual desirability following breast reduction surgery. The band made a final appearance at the '05-'06 New Year's Rockin' Eve show at Chavez which culminated in a highly unnecessary cover of "Sex Bomb" and Truck getting beer poured into his butt. In an unforseen turn of events, '90s music somehow achieved a post-ironic resurgence in popularity, Biddle returned to California from Chicago, Illinois, and the Most disbanded due to several of the members growing addictions to processed sugar and the Grateful Dead, rendering ESP poised for an all-too-pathetic opportunity to relive their wasted college days. Fuck yeah. At this rate, we should probably just keep celebrating my birthday until my half birthday/Biddle's birthday/October 20, 2008. Then, we can celebrate ECB for the next 6 months. And then it's my turn again. I love this system.
lets do a summer tour so I can return to red rock canyon wild horse and burro management area and we can play for the mountain goats and yeah I know you all wish it was TRUCK, BID and some good drummer in ESP but its not!
