Influences

My first memories of music were sitting in some old country church listening to my grandpa play a fiddle or a bass guitar and sing. He is my no. 1 Influence...

My no. 2 influence is my dad. He introduced me to a lot of my favorite music by spinning stacks of vinyl every day when I was a child. He taught me about REAL country music and REAL rock 'n' roll. He was pretty good at pickin' and grinnin', too! My acoustic guitar is a WWII era Gibson J-45 that was passed down from my grandpa to my dad when I was a kid. I recently found a casette recording of my dad singing some songs and picking that guitar (with me beating on the guitar case with some drum sticks and singing along, LOL!). I might have to upload that for anybody who want's to hear it. My dad was also a pedal steel guitar junkie. He was a member of the Ricky Skagg's Fan Club and he used to take me to a lot of concerts and he would try to get close enough to the steel player so that he could stare in awe. That is one of many things that he passed on to me. He also left me a nice set of vintage speakers (Zenith Allegro 3000) and he taught me how to properly adjust the equalizer on a stereo to get more bang for your buck, LOL!

My no. 3 influence is Buck Owens. I heard "Act Naturally" on a country station in Cullman, AL one night when I was 21 years old and I went to Wal-Mart immediately and bought the album that had this song on it ("Together Again/My Heart Skips A Beat"). Buck Owens completely changed the way I thought about country music. I spent my teenage years listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Elvis, and I remember thinking that I hated country music. What I didn't realize was that I hated country radio. Soon after discovering Buck Owens, I started listening to Merle Haggard, Gram Parsons, and tons of Alt. Country and 70's country rock. Then I realized that these were the sounds that I was raised on and I had just gotten away from them. Thanks to Buck, I was able to find my way back to the good stuff...

On June 8, 1967, a date which will live in infamy, a United States ship, the USS Liberty, was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the State of Israel. Thirty-four American sailors died and 174 were wounded. There was no retaliation, no honest investigation, and no assistance from American forces. Israel got away with cold blooded murder.

USS Liberty Dead in the Water

On September 11, 2001, planes struck the two WTC towers, and shortly thereafter both towers fell. But did you know that a third large building also collapsed on September 11 at 5:20 in the afternoon and that this building, WTC 7, wasn't even hit by a plane? What could have caused such an unusual collapse, which had all the characteristics of a controlled demolition? Again, there has been no honest investigation.

911 Mysteries

If the Israelis got away with deliberately slaughtering innocent Americans on the USS Liberty, then what's to stop them from doing it again? What other terrorist crimes against humanity might they also have gotten away scot-free with? Click to learn more.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
