About ellul

ellul's self titled debut is, unlike much contemporary vocal music, genuinely surprising. Recorded up and down the California coast in vaulted hill top churches, industrial warehouses, living rooms and community centers, Joel Brown- Tarman (vocals/keyboard) and Joel St. Julien (vocals/guitar) recruited producer Chris Schlarb (Liz Janes & Create (!), Castanets, I Heart Lung) to help realize the their sound. Drummer Adam Garcia (Timonium, Imaad Wasif) and bassist Anthony Shadduck (Nels Cline, e-10 Jazz Orchestra) provide texture and contrast within ellul's shifting compositions.
