Bio
Toronto-based lyricist/spoken word giant/renegade MC/DJ/community organizer El Machetero is currently out of the sights of most working on completing his sophomore album "Permanent Underclass". Determined to continually evolve whatever genre he chooses to mess with to something deeper and higher than what is typically expected, this album will far surpass the momentum generated by his debut, the spoken word classick "Clash Like Rock Smackin Tank" (regularly referred to by many as the "Greatest album that nobody has heard.") "Permanent Underclass" will feature the top notch sonic boom-bap production of GIGZ the Unknown Producer and the spellbinding sultry vocal accompaniment of Amina Alfred and Onika Blackman, and promises to strike with full vengeance at the grey zone chillin in between "We Can't Be Stopped" and "Low End Theory." The oldest son of political refugees from Chile who arrived in Canada in 1979, El Machetero's poetic and musical sensibilities blend the dirtiness and the realness of the best Hip-Hop, the rawness and the honesty of the best Hardcore Punk, and the Truthfulness and the Righteousness of the best Roots Reggae music. El Machetero classes his music as "raw naked sophistigriticated aggro-soul music haunted with the voices, dreams, and visions of grown folx who are starved for something better." Stay tuned to this page for updates on when "Permanent Underclass" will be made available to One and All. Gratitude, Thanks, Blessings and Love to all of you who helped make this current moment possible with all your Love, Guidance and Support over the years.
