Elizabeth Lorrey crafts a dark blend of edgy, intense acoustic
rock. Slow-cooked, finely seasoned, with a hint of Suzanne Vega
simmering in The Cure.
Awakening is Elizabeth's first solo effort after years of fronting
indie rock bands. Taking "solo artist" to the extreme, she wrote,
performed, engineered and produced everything on the 8-song disc
except drums (played by the superbly talented Greg Tourian) and a
smokin' guitar solo by Dave Fitzgibbons of The Rafters.
Greg & Dave will join Elizabeth, along with bassist Kris Lucander &
keyboardist Bob Murphy for a special, full-band performance at the
CD Release Party (November 13, 2009 at the Bull Run in Shirley, MA)
to rock the tunes from Awakening and the back catalog!
WOW!!!!!!!! you were Smokin' Hot tonight at your release show, Elizabeth ~~~ your vocals were powerful and the band was so tight!!!! so happy for you to finally be launching your baby - and what a way to kick it off tonight with a full house!!! thx for my copy - gonna be listening to it all weekend. CONGRATS Darling!!! xox
Music is going slow right now. My computer crashed over the summer so I'm still reloading all my songs. Also working on finishing a novel. Thanks for the cd and thanks for listening!
I would LOVE to hear your upcoming mixes! I've almost completed my 8'th of 12 new tunes for this year's project. I've been having fun collaborating with my original musical partner Martin Olson and I've been working on several audio projects including Gayle's new masterpiece and Ashbrook Haynes third CD which is sounding fabulous. I recorded real drums for them using four mikes. They sounds great and very authentic, classic 60s/70s. Looking forward to seeing you somewhere soon!
By the way, I too love the song "She"...we've gotta get all of you amazing talented artists better known world wide;) The Serendipity Series has had something for everyone, lots of people certainly didn't know what they were missing!
Thanks Elizabeth:) You certainly did give JJJ a memorable awesome send off:) Adam and I were having a blast singing along to the Everly Brothers from our booth, I'm surprised I remembered as much of the lyrics, lol. And you sounded amazing as always. And as long as love is a battlefield...they'll be songs to write, lol:)I had a crazy rollercoaster week and last night certainly ended it on a positive note;)
Great show, Elizabeth. It was a proper send-off to the Serendipity Series at Jumpin' Juice & Java. If not before, I will certainly see you when Serendipity arises from the ashes!
clarification, honey ~ you did NOT screw up on the djembe tonight!! I had a bad case of white-girl-rhythm and messed up. lack of sleep over last few days. how else can I explain forgetting my own songs when I'd rehearsed 'em for weeks?!?! ok... I could say it was because I'm blonde...! but it surely wasn't you who messed up :-)
you were brilliant tonite at JJJ, Elizabeth ~ of course!! to watch you perform "Frozen" and "She" gives me goosebumps and tonite was no exception. sad to see Jumpin Juice closing, but you gave them a memorable send-off (Bye Bye Love, no less!). Great show, darling!!!
I'm sorry that you made the wasted trip!! Outdoor gigs and New England weather are tricky... I was very disappointed. I hope all is well in the world according to Elizabeth Lorrey... How's the recording biz going?
GS and I had a BLAST at Nashoba Winery ~ weather was perfect and crowd was enthusiastic,,, can't ask for more than that! missed ya ~ but hopefully we'll cross paths soon! still planning on celebrating the release of your new CD soon!!! Lee
