Roots Rock and Roll and Blues with a psychedelic flavor. Really, it's whatever you perceive it to be.
Elf Lettuce is a hard-touring band whose music is as true to its early rock and blues roots as the band members are to their roots in the Midwest. Upon moving to Madison in 2006, the group quickly garnered the respect of Clyde Stubblefield, the “funky” drummer for James Brown from 1965-1970 (and a myriad of other legendary artists). The band enjoyed tenure as Clyde’s supporting act every Monday for one year and now performs their own weekly Monday show in addition to playing several gigs on the road each month.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since their first show in 2004, Elf Lettuce has quickly established itself as a growing force in the Midwest music scene. Fans that have experienced the band’s concerts at the 10,000 Lakes Festival, Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Big Wu Family Reunion, Bella Madre Festival, and many more agree that the band has a classic, yet innovative sound and the energy in their live shows is sonically contagious. Since the release of their eponymous debut EP in 2006, the group has distributed over 1,000 copies independently, and recently recorded a new Live Album, set for release in 2009.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elf Lettuce plays a wide variety of music. In their improvisation-friendly performances, their rapidly growing fan base can detect a strong roots-rock and blues presence with overtones of bluegrass, country, folk, jazz, and funked-out melodies. Guitarist Jacob Lison’s virtuoso playing can recall “slow hand” style picking, and in a split second, it can boil over into a tempest of fiery psychedelia. Bassist Eli Reichenberger and drummer Joe Murray weave a tapestry of inter-locking rhythm that set the perfect tone for second guitarist Alex White’s rootsy country-blues style.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a strong work ethic and a persistent, positive attitude toward the road, it’s no surprise that Elf Lettuce is expanding its sights beyond its well-established touring radius in the Midwest. Expect to see the band performing at more festivals and venues throughout more regions of the U.S. in the near future. After sharing the stage with amazing artists like Clyde Stubblefield, Dr. Didg, Down Lo, Trampled by Turtles, Charlie Parr, and many others, the band members continue to diversify their musical styles through the influence of the amazing talent they’re privileged to work with. It’s a sure-fire formula for keeping their original sound evolving for their avidly dedicated fan base.

Hello, there - I'm honestly glad to see that you guys are still playing. I remember seeing you for the first time playing with StoneFloat in Stevens Point. Honestly all I can remember are a Union Cap and crazy-crawling fingers.
And then again, at The King Club and that... ...Indian Restaurant?
Well, in any case, I know you are people and alive. But I might never see you again, who knows? So keep on making sounds; you have my respect and encouragement, at least.
Thanks for a FABULOUS show! You all were LIVE WIRES! Killer songs, fantastic jams, and what a drum solo! Love to you all! Can't wait to see you all back at The Q! ;) ~Be Well & Much Love!
