And yet he is one of the happiest little guys I've ever seen. He gets around in a wheelchair or sometimes just pulls himself along with his front legs, dragging his hind legs. |

About me:
I'm a retired schoolteacher, living on a small acreage called "Brocken" in SW Washington State, near Amboy, where I taught 7th grade until retirement.
My specialty in life is taking care of things, I guess. I loved taking care of a classroom. I take care of several rescue pugs--animals that nobody else wants...as well as some pugs of my own and three Boston Terrorist rescues.
Until recently, I lived alone. Then I found a real, live person to take care of. She is what she calls an "ably disabled" person, but she needs someone with her to help out most of the time. She loves birds almost as much as I love pugs, and I call her my Canary Wommon.
There is one other person living here...Canary Wommon's brother, who helps me take care of her.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet people interested in prison reform...and in exploring things that regular people--not necessarily law-enforcement people or people in the legal system--can do for prisoners who have been inappropriately convicted.
I'd also like to find people who are aware of the problem for the mentally ill in prisons and perhaps research together to see if there is anything that can be done to address this issue from the grass roots up
I'd like to meet some folks who may have heard of Elsa Newman and her case...and especially anyone who thinks like I do, that Elsa was not treated by appropriate standards of justice the courtrooms in which she is tried. [FYI--I'm not the only one who holds this opinion. There is actually an informal "Elsa Newman Support Group."
I'd also like to meet some Reform Jews, who might help me understand more about the Jewish faith. Canary Wommon is Jewish. Her faith is very important to her, and I need to understand all I can about that faith in order to help her have the best possible life.
And anybody who loves pugs? Oh, yes...I would love to indulge in some great conversations about the most wonderful of all breeds...plus exchanging pictures and videos or whatever.
