Andres Celis Almanza aka el Koch,Metazoan,Mejican Lost, Mejikanito & GrassHopper is a 25 year old Mexican Dj and producer...Born in Zacatecas, but living in Mexico City…he developed a big interest for music from an early age with his family…after he was influenced by latin bands such as Los Tigres del Norte, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Mano Negra; international rock bands such as Queen, The Clash, Red Hot Chilli Peppers … Syd Barret…and also from great percussionists like Airto Moreira, Brent Lewis, Eumir Deodato and many more.
In 1997 he went to his first Goa-Trance festival in “el Ajusco“ mountain and became facinated with this kind of culture.
By that time, he studied photography for a while at the Active School of Photography in Mexico City.
In the year 2000 he listened Shiva Chandra*s Auricular record …since then everything changed. He began to play as an amateur in private parties in Mexico City, mainly influenced by Reefer Decree, XV Kilist, Paste,Space Safari, Insane Creation, V-Tunes, Sensient, The Cujorius One, Kromelur, P.O.T.S., etc.
In 2005 he moved to Switzerland, where he met important producers of Psytrance and Minimal; with them, he acquired the nickname of Mexican Lost. Then he went to some of the best european festivals, that influenced him FOREVER. In the time that he spent in Switzerland, he learned to mix with more technique.
Back in Mexico, he decided to leave everything in order to study Audio Engineering, Production, Classical Music Composition for ABRSM and Multimedia, at G. Martell School of Music. There he learned a lot from people like Digit, Klang, Ramiro Puente and Jorge Morales(Martell)
After many expeditions to the mountains he proposed to his childhood friends the formation of a multicultural collective named El Setenta.
“El Setenta“ project group is currently formed by more than 10 mexican members: musicians, climbers, mountain people, photographers, filmmakers, ranchers, farmers, graphic designers, academic researchers, etc.
Today, El Setenta also has collaborators from The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and of course Mexico.
Mexican Lost collaborates with Knock productions, Indigo and other independent producers. He has alternated with the best Mexican DJs and some other international DJs.
Andres Celis Almanza bases his DJ Sets in the selection of the apropiate tracks, he likes clean mixtures, without effects, since he feels that they get the mix “dirty”.
He can either mix by tone a single genre, creating a big “bubble“; or mix lots of genres in a DJ Set, depending on the dance floor and the production.
Because Andres has an open mind, he couldn t enclose himself in only one genre:
Mejikanitoes - Minimal-Minimal
Mejican Lost - Minimal-Tech-Trance
GrassHopper - Progressive Psy Trance
el Koch – Psytrance (Temporarily closed)
Metazoan - Minimal-Pro-Aggressive-Trance.(Temporarily closed)
Also appears a short time like VJ Katzenart.(Temporarily closed)
Do not hesitate to add him to your events !
