About me:
I was born on March 11, 1979 in Peekskill, New York. Peekshill is as I describe it "A good environmental city" located in Weschester County. I grew as a normal kid who like to play any kind of sport. I grew up as a respectfull and intelligent young man. At the age of thirteen I entered Peekskill High School as a freshman and quickly showed that I belonged on the varsity squad. As high school coach Lou Panzanaro remembers,"after I saw Elton get the ball up for the opening tap, score over 30 points and get every rebound after every shot, I wanted him on the varsity team". I played phenomenally. It made him realize, for me to get better, I needed to play with people who were better than him at that point." To me, basketball was a lot of fun and a challenge to play and credits my high school coach with helping put me on the right path. Various people taught me to play basketball, but my high school coach played an important role. Although my coach helped me, at one point I decided to quit the team because my coach just worked me to hard and I thought that it was enough for him. My mother, Daisy, convinced me to not give up and not to quit, I was only 13 years old and I never had a problem after that incident.
My mother taught me a lot and instilled good behavior and a work ethic, my mom's attitude kept me positive. She was always pushing me to be the best, and to read books.
Me and my family have lots of roots in Westchester County. My grandmother lives in Ossining and I have uncles and aunts who live throughout the county. I miss the people and being away from my friends. I liked growing up in Westchester County -- it wasn't like a fast-paced city life, it was a good environment. I go back to visit in the offseason because I love the area, the scenery, and driving up Route 9 and seeing all the trees.
My favorite hangouts in Peekskill is not a basketball court but a restaurant. I liked going to Highland Pizza in Peekskill late at night and talking to my friends for hours and hours. I love the chicken parmesan. Highland Pizza has a Pataki Pizza and will soon be offering an Elton chicken parmesan sandwich. Of course, now that I have my lucrative contract with the Clippers I could buy Highland Pizza.
I have not forgotten where I came from and who helped me get there. Most people are so impressed by my charm and gentle-nature that after the first time they meet me, they me a friend. There is definitely a bright future for this me. Gov. Pataki has even loftier expectations for me though.
Well this took a long time...well now at least you know me more than just as a basketball player
