MusicThis is always changing for me, but right now, I'm digging Yeah Yeah Yeahs, She Wants Revenge, and Nine Black Alps. I would be digging Interpol but they are no longer available for On Demand streaming on MusicMatch (what is up with that, Musicmatch?).

I am eagerly awaiting the new Red Hot Chili Peppers and Paul Simon discs.

And of course, my Late 70s custom station on MusicMatch Radio is always there, like the soft, cuddly security blanket of my forgotten youth.
TelevisionEver since I've been focusing on my comic book writing, I find that my TV watching has fallen into a black hole. Thankfully, our DVR holds about 100 hours of programming. So mainly what I like to do now, TV-wise, is record an entire season of, say, Six Feet Under and then several months later, just delete them all without ever having watched a single episode. It gives me the vicarious enjoyment of having actually watched the shows, without actually taking the time away from writing to watch them.

I do try to keep up with Lost, however. It's just that good.

About me:

"...an up-and-coming writer that's doing it right."

That's how Jason Rodriguez, editor of Postcards: True Stories That Never Happened, recently characterized me.

I like to think he got it right, because I love writing comic books. There's nothing I enjoy more than working with a talented artist to bring a story to life.

So far, I've had the pleasure of crafting stories with fantastic artists such as Juan Romera, Renzo Podesta, Noel Tuazon (of the Harvey-nominated Elk's Run), and Marvin Mann (of the also-Harvey-nominated The Lone and Level Sands).

If you're an artist who is as passionate about telling stories as I am, I'd love to talk to you. The stories I write are generally real-world, character-driven drama – except when they’re zany retro comedy or high-concept summer blockbuster or creepy horror or something else that tickles my creative fancy! Heck, I’ve even got a couple of superhero stories in me, given the right artist.

I've had stories published this year in 803 Studios' Sequential Suicide anthology and Frameworks: A Study in Sequential Art. This fall, I'll have not one but two stories published in the Eagle, Eisner, and Harvey Award-nominated anthology, Negative Burn.

Next year, I'm on tap to have stories published in a major anthology by Random House/Villard and an anthology titled Dear Santa, Let Me Explain... that James W. Powell, assistant editor of Postcards, is putting together.

So, that's the August 2007 version of "Who is Elton Pruitt?" Thanks for stopping by, and for more, visit:

Hey, my MySpace friends, TODAY is the day! Don't miss Xeric winner "Jazz: Cool Birth," in September's Previews order book at comic shops today, under Aazurn Publishing!

Because "Jazz: Cool Birth" is inspired by '50s album cover design, transporting readers into 1957 jazz clubs, we're hearing interest from musicians and music lovers. Since "Jazz" is a murder mystery, mystery readers are also intrigued. Add to that comic book readers that enjoy Xeric grant winning indy books and we expect a rush of orders from September's Previews.

So many readers like you are enjoying Aazurn. com's done-in-one comic book short stories we are encouraged to continue to offer single story books! Thanks for helping us prove comics can be good, adult reading!

Hey Elton, how's it? Been reading your columns from scriptic a lot lately and wanted to pop by and thank you for them. I'd read a few a long time ago and then forgot about the site and only recently rediscovered it. Awesome columns. Thanks for sharing them.

... Wow! Those are some kind words. Thank you!

And oddly enough, last night I was looking at Sequential Suicide on IndyPlanet/Ka-Blam, and debating whether or not to buy it. And now I've got another reason to!
