    i'm elyse! I started taking guitar lessons at age 16. I didn't start writing my own songs until my senior year of college ('06) and I started performing the February after that when my friend Jeff told me about open mic nights at Van Gogh's Ear Cafe in Jersey. I have since written many more originals and played various open mics and shows in Nyack and New York City with Pakisandra, Wake Up Electrified, Sampson and the Folkadelics, How to Disappear, The Proud Flesh, and The Sons of Daddy. Up until recently, I had a steady gig every Friday from 5-8 at RJ's Broadway Bar & Grill in Nyack. RJ's will be sorely missed. An overflowing thank you and love to my amazing friends who serve as inspiration for many songs, and who make it to so many of my shows with big smiles on their faces, and also my wonderful family: my mom & dad who stay up late to come out to my shows and constantly make me think I'm amazing, and my brothers David and Hiro who just moved home from Japan! <br><br> My influences are Iron and Wine, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Feist, Dar Williams, The Concretes, Joshua Radin and The Avett Brothers.
