Elyzians music is unlike anything elseCasting aside the current obsession to look and sound like part of todays musical landscape, they decided to invent their ownto innovate rather than imitate

This approach has led to their music being classed as a breath taking fusion of genres that defies boundaries and seamlessly creates a twilight fairytale landscape; uplifting and twisted in equal measure.

Based in London, the band was thrown together in the summer of 2005. They found that their different influences allowed them to write songs that combined strong vocal melodies, classically infused piano and lush Pop/Rock arrangements.

Lead singer Sarah Croft has a voice that is both hauntingly beautiful and strikingly powerful. This has led to comparisons with the likes of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Skin of Skunk Anansie. Her song writing reflects life experiences laced with dramatic imagery that never falls into the realm of cliché.

Pianist Alisdair Wright never fails to create memorable and atmospheric soundscapes. He manages to comprise soaring melodies before descending into rich chord progressions, carrying the music on a wave of expression. These musical ideas are always allowed to prevail through the complimentary playing of Dave Pugh and Joe Rodriguez. Together they have mastered the rhythmical movement between moments of quirky inspiration and the sections that hold down the potent fabric of these songs.

Elyzians image fits perfectly as a parallel to their music. They have drawn from fairytale concepts to give an essence of fantasy that is idyllic yet surrealthink Alice in Wonderland meets Midsummer Nights Dream. From this, however, a darker element underlines this band; throwing a warped slant over the niceties and in turn crafting a compelling image.
