Sounds Like
Sexy Cabaret, Electro-Folk, Roots and Piano Pop for you, your dad and your teenage sister.
Emaline Delapaix is an Aussie singer songwriter who lives in a cabin on an island in Canada surrounded by mountains and a giant lake with her big orange cat Reece. She spends a lot of time writing odd folk pop for piano, acoustic guitar and harp, and sometimes whatever else she has lying about the place. She also dabbles in sinister cabaret and doesn't mind experimenting when the fancy takes her.
Some say she sounds a little like Kate Bush or Tori Amos, but she also loves a lot of Scandinavian music: music that invokes the weather like storms and warm sunsets.
From Summer 2009 she will also be part of two UK based collaborations including an all female harp/cello/vocal alt folk trio and Skeena Rhine - an electronic duo with influences from Bjork, Portishead and Film Noir.
Emaline's first full length record ‘Peculiar Places’ will be out soon, followed by lots of lovely shows in North America, Europe and the UK.

Blue Chair Cafe, Edmonton Alberta - Harold - Manager/Owner
At Blue Chair Café we take pride in presenting original live music, and are especially thrilled when we are able to feature musicians that step out of the box to create truly unique music. The Emaline Delapaix entourage rolled into Edmonton with guitars, keys, percussions and a very unusual treat, a viola. The result was a very unique sound for some truly impressive song writing. Unusual instrumentation, intricate rhythms and clever arrangements held together by excellent vocals and harmonies. What a treat.
August 2007
The Apollo, Thunder Bay Ontario - Sheila Stathopoulos, Owner
"This is a special voice. It recalls of days gone by, raucous cabaret nights and bright broadway lights.
Don't let Emaline Delapaix pass you by."
July 2006
Waynefest, Alberta Canada - Brock Skywalker, Artistic Director
Emaline was a highlight of this year's festival. Faced with terrible
weather conditions, a struggling crowd and an under-the-weather Stage
Manager she trooped on to bring Waynefest 2005 a top notch show. Talent,
looks and fortitude. What more can you ask for in an entertainer?
September 2005
Edge of the World Festival, Queen Charlotte Islands Canada - Frank Wall - Artistic Director
"Emaline Delapaix and her group captivated our festival audience with a fantastic, well-rounded set.
As much fun between songs as the music itself. Definitely one of the favourite acts of 2004. I would recommend her for any event."
July 2004
Neuen Welt, Ingolstadt Germany - Walter Haber - Manager/Owner
"A surprising, unusual evening with marvelous music.
The Australian easily filled the area of the Neuen Welt with her voice, inspired with musical versatility, charming stage presence, playing jazz and salsa, flamenco and rock, folk and world music, seductively and with honesty."
