Embassy, in its current form, is the continuation of a project that began a number of years ago when lead singer/songwriter Eddie Harvey was but a wee lad in high school. Now 27, Eddie has reformed Embassy into a four-piece [soul/acoustic/melodic/insert other appropriate adjective here] rock band, consisting of bass, drums and electric guitars, and with a completely new line-up of accomplished musicians.
On drums, Chris McCaig. Chris brings a wealth of playing experience, having first begun attacking a drum kit about 16 years ago. Over the years that followed, Chris' love for making loud noises transformed him into the rock solid and accomplished drummer he is today, culminating in a full schedule of drumming students as well as recently opening a successful music store (Beat Industry) on the Central Coast of NSW. Chris continues to provide the 'solid' in Embassy, and makes a pretty good coffee as well.
On guitar, Jamin Day also brings many years experience in playing, teaching and gigging. Jamin started learning electric guitar in year 5 at school, after hearing some friends rock out in the prestigious primary school talent quest, and has continued to learn how to re-string guitars faster and faster ever since. After experimenting over the years with different styles of playing, particularly in the jazz, funk, rock and jazzfunkrock-esque areas, Jamin became convinced that all true musicians must know at least one country lick for those opportune times when no one else knows how to play the song. After first playing bass for Embassy Jamin has moved to his preferred instrument, the guitar, since the recent addition of a new Bass player.
On Bass, Stephen Daniell the most recent addition to Embassy. Actually that's not quite true, as Stephen was one of the original founding members of Embassy in it's early years, but moved back to New Zealand to be with family. Yes he is a Kiwi, but don't worry you can usually understand what he is saying and if not just nod and smile. While back in New Zealand he fronted a rock band and also played bass in a reggae band. Not only for bringing his years of experience in bass playing and his songwriting skills to the band, Stephen was just so damn cute (like a lonely puppy) we had to hire him again.
On lead vocals and guitar, Embassy would be nothing more than a few guys jamming without Eddie Harvey. Eddie has been writing music ever since he was old enough to write music, and has a unique way of masterfully crafting lyrics, melody, and interesting chordal structures together to create songs that are more than the sum of their parts. Perhaps more importantly, his hair is getting pretty long as well.
Embassy continue to pride themselves on creating distinct and original songs that are both meaningful and highly listenable, and have completed their first 3-track CD 'Nightfall', and released it on the 30th October 2008. The boys plan to head back into the studio in the first half of 2009 and begin work on their debut Album.
