We would like to thank Michael Woods for his contribution to the band whilst our much loved Mexicano has gone back to his homeland to touch base for a while, Woodsie is an accomplished musician in his own right and helps create a different flair to the Embers' already eclectic sound.
We now have a two piece horn section and damn it's sounding good, Not to take away anything from our own Leonardo Martinez of course. We cant wait for him to get back and complete the new sound of the Embers....cheers.
National award winning six piece - The Embers - were formed by long time friends in late 2005 and their eclectic and varied sound can be best described as Roots Fusion.
Their multi instrumental mix incorperates elements of Latin, Folk, Reggae and Groove all wrapped up in a kicking live show.
In Sydney 2006, The Embers won the National Campus Band Competition after competing with over 1000 bands from 80 institutions around the country and now join an impressive list of previous winners who include Jebediah, The Vasco Era and Eskimo Joe.
As winners of the NCBC, The Embers were awarded studio time with Sony BMG and as a result have produced their debut EP at Woodstock Studios in Melbourne, released in August 2007.
They are also no strangers to playing festivals, their wide ranging appeal has seen them play The Fall's Festival in 2005 Falls Festival 2006, MS Fest 2006, The Southern Roots Festival '07, The Falmouth Festival and The Cygnet Folk Festival. MS Fest 2008
The success of the Embers' original music has also seen them support some great international and national acts such as:
The Violent Femmes, Dukes of Windsor, Faker, True Live, The Whitlams, Lior, Bomba, The Red Eyes, The Exploders, The Rob Sawyer Band and The Custom Kings.
The Embers look forward to a busy year bringing their sound and live show to the people in 2008.
We are launching our album at the Royal oak on Wednesday 20th August and will be hosted by the Jazz club on August 26th. Hope you can come and check out our new material. Would be great to catch up.

PS:
The wait is over. After 4 long months off Dora Mah return to launch their debut EP. Dora Mah has been one of the word of mouth success stories of 2007, with the name being dropped in any bands to see conversation. Joining Dora Mah Febuary 8 at Ding Dong lounge will be Rincon, Johnny Uppercut & Rumourtism. Dora Mah promise an arena spectacular (does an extra strobe light count?).
