Embers, formed in 2004 from Oakland, CA is dark, ambient, and heavy with male and female vocals and a black metal influence. Incorporating strings, keys, two guitars, bass and drums, Embers drives into the heart of dynamic, symphonic discord on a sonic journey inspired by dreams, meditation, and raw rage.
Embers founding members are
Kelly Nelson on bass and vocals, Steven DeCaprio on guitar and Jerry Buchanan on drums.
Kelly and Steve are the former members of the political hardcore/metal band, 'Lesser Of Two', formed in 1990 and dissolved in 2002. Lesser Of Two put out 3 CDs, 2 7"s, and a discography all of which are available through the Embers website.
Jerry has played in a number of Bay Area bands over the last 15 years including Fields of Shit and Abandon. He also plays drums in a tribute band called, 'I Yearn for Maiden'.
Nine, a phenomenal viola player with over 15 years of experience has performed with various artist including current Bay Area bands,'Rivers Run Black' and 'Six Billion Dead'. She now has only an occasional performance based relationship with Embers, but she is looking forward to picking up the pace with them again soon.
Lillian a classically trained pianist has not played keys in a band prior to Embers. She has been part of the SF punk scene for many years and is known for her endearing smiling presence on stage.
Timm has played guitar in 'Neoni Eagal', 'Background to Malfunction', and a number of other music projects over the years and is also a powerful back up vocalist for Embers.
Influences
Geez.. there are so many and all the members have different influences but here are a few: Lesser Of Two,Fields Of Shit,Iron Maiden, At The Gates, Emperor, Isis, Carcass, Neurosis, Rorschach, Swallow The Sun, Rudimentary Peni, Agalloch, Ulver, Amebix,circus music in general...
I'm gonna end this right now for you and all your band members and nonmembers and will dismember the words containing Embers. I wish I had thought of this back in September my favorite month to misremember and disremember. There are many comembers of memborship and nonmemborship, but my favorite's to remember are the ones in December. Non-Ember Pirate Ships are good since they burn to ember as are made of wood. There is no way to re-lash this or set the "wordflames" into heightened Re-EMBER!
