Influences
I enjoy so many people's music and so many different styles that I'll just list a few here in no particular order...Jewel, Katie Melua, Eva Cassidy, Damien Rice and Bell X1, Snow patrol, Duke Special, Jeff Buckley, Jack Johnson, KT Tunstall etc. There are so many, I could go on with this list all day...
Emer Dunne is a multi-talented and diverse singer and songwriter from Laois, in the Midlands of Ireland. With her music roots based in so many genres, including Irish, jazz/blues and acoustic folk, Emer has been singing on stage since the age of five. Her style and sound has often been described as a merge between Eva Cassidy, Sinead O Connor and Joan Baez but obtaining a unique and distinct sound of her own.
Emer’s first self produced recording entitled ‘Another Land’ was released in her hometown and into the Irish Midlands music market by RTE Television’s, Mary Fanning. Emer was quickly brought to the attention of a whole new audience as word spread fast of this young girl’s talent. Emer’s music has now been featured on various radio stations throughout the midlands and she was offered the opportunity to make her first music video for her own song ‘Untold Story’ by Star Pro Video Productions. In recent months, Emer has been gigging in various locations throughout the country and she is currently working on new material.
From the age of eleven she performed on many stages around Europe at International Festivals with a song and dance troop. During this time she was also sang on Dutch and Spanish Television.
At 18 she began writing her own songs creating a style and sound all of her own. She embarked on a tour of the Osaka region of Japan. Emer has performed as a special guest for Kila, Frankie Gavin, Freddie White, Sarah McQuaid and Dermot 'Blues' Byrne among others. She believes that every artist can bring something different and unique to the world of music and hopes you like her own style and sound.
“A beautiful voice and one to watch…” June Carley, The best of Irish on Midlands 103.5fm
“this is a young singer/songwriter and you will have to hear her sing to believe how good she is – what a voice – and she will be back to Clonmel” Clonmel Nationalist
“ A comfortable presence on stage her ethereal angelic vocals kept the audience hushed. If you can quieten a room full of bowsies, you’re definitely doing something right. Her voice was simply without peer on the night.” Michael Tracy, The Laois Nationalist
"This girl has an amazing voice and could sing any kind of music" John Brady, Kfm
“Possessing a voice far beyond her years, the silent audience sat listening intently to each of her own compositions.” Dara Byrne, The Laois Voice.
did you know that your video for "Another Land" which you recorded at the purple sessions is our all time number 1 video with more hits ,well over 1000 more than any other of the 153 videos we have posted to date
