| Emilia de Poret is the first Swedish artist to have an album produced by top songwriter/producer Arnthor Birgisson. Internationally renowned, Arnthor is the producer behind some of the latest hits of Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Shayne Ward and Janet Jackson amongst others. Arnthor is also part of Max Martin's production team, in whose Maratone Studio Emilia's latest album was recorded and produced. The album was mixed by Phil Tan who has mixed top hits for Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Ne-Yo, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson to mention just a few.
Musically speaking, the album mixes high-tech with classic beats. Arnthor has sampled Emilia's voice and breathing instead of instruments; “Emilia's voice is incredibly easy to work on, it is like a musical instrument, sure in its tune….Emilia is both classic and ultra-modern in her personality, which is reflected in the sound we have created together”.
Arnthor and Emilia happen to be childhood friends, having both attended the same music school in Stockholm. After having gone their separate ways in the music business, they both thought the time was right to start working on a joint project; “Emilia and I started recording demos in our basement when we where in our early teens. At the time, we were listening to a lot of R&B, soul and rhythmic hip-hop. A lots of these influences can be found on Emilia's new album”, says songwriter and producer Arnthor Birgisson, who adds, “the album has clear influences from early-90s pop, from Madonna and Janet Jackson, a melodic and catchy sound enticing you to hit the dance floor”.
The first single to hit the music scene in Australia ‘Pick Me Up' will be released on 4th October 2008 and is set to take Australia by storm, having already stormed the Swedish iTunes and weekly singles charts to the number one position. In a recent trip to New York, Emilia met with Def Jam Head A&R – Josh Sarubin. On performing ‘Pick Me Up', Josh commented “This is a hit, I'll take it further. You will sing this song a million times”. Having already worked in Sydney and Melbourne in preparation for the upcoming release, Emilia will be returning to Australia in August 2008 for press interviews, music performances, guest appearances and exciting collaborations with some of the worlds most talented DJ's at Freedom Festival 08. | Emilia's first ever single ‘I Can', was launched in Sweden and was a massive hit on radio. “‘I Can' very much summarises the feeling of the whole album: an irresistible feel-good factor”, says Emilia, who goes on to deliver an anecdote she feels expresses the feeling one gets from the track, telling how she managed to deliver one of her first demos to no less than Stevie Wonder: “ When Stevie was in Sweden to receive the Polar Music Prize, I managed to get to his hotel suite and deliver my demo to him in person, getting security to believe I was actually delivering an official Polar Prize document”, adding, “this is the feeling one gets from ‘I Can', if you are up for it, nothing can stop you”. The single was mixed by the highly acclaimed Serban Ghenea whose previous track record includes Kelly Clarkson, Prince, Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears.
Emilia has unique range as a singer, which is reflected in her forthcoming album, where deeper, more personal ballads can be found amongst high-tempo clubby tunes. A real party album, with softer undertones. -“It is a high-energy album, not unlike a sample of Emilia's whole personality. Her intensity and positive attitude is embedded in some more melancholic and deeper feelings”, says Arnthor.
Emilia de Poret has been working as an artist since she was nine years old. She has performed for the Swedish Royal family and on major TV shows.
Emilia's album is due to be released later this year and is tipped to be a huge success. |
