Emilio Maya has played flamenco guitar since the age of 8 winning his first prize at the age of 12 in the Guitar festival in Lanjaron. He began his professional carreer playing at Flamenco Peñas ( clubs) all over Andalucía accompanying artists such as Carmen Montoya, Lalo Tejada, El Lele, Juan Manuel Flores, El Toro, Enrique Morente, la Nitra, Chonchi Heredia, Estrella Morente, Marina Heredia, and dancers such as Juan Ramírez, Juan Andrés Maya, Ana Calí. La Repompa, la Fuensanta. In 2001 he went to Brasil with the dancers Antonio Canales and Juan de Juan.
He has demonstrated his versatility collaborating with artists such as, Jorge Pardo, Rubén Dantas, la Orquesta Andalusí de Tetuán from Morrcco y la Orquesta Andalusí de Tánger, with whom he performed at the Centre for Arab Studies in Paris and with whom he recorded the CD ‘Al Kantara’ produced by the English producer Harold Burgon.
In 2004 he recorded his first solo CD ‘ Temple’ also with Harold Burgon. He also recorded with Estrella Morente on her album ' Calle del Aire" and with Miguel Ochando on 'Memoria'.
He has performed all over Europe with his own group ' Grupo Maya'. He is also a member of Mario Maya's company performing ' Diálogo del Amargo' and with Juan Andrés Maya in his shows ' Furia Maya' and 'El Renacimiento'. Recent performances have been in Brussels and Mexico and in the New Year he will be performing in Paris
Emilio is currently recording his second CD which will be released by the new record label Andalamusica in 2008, and is performing with the violinist Maya in their group ' Flamenco de Camera'.

Emilio está grabando su segundo disco también con el productor Harold Burgon de Andalamusica que saldrá en 2008 mientras siga actuando junto con el violinista Maya en el grupo ' Flamenco de Camera' y en su grupo 'Grupo Maya'
