Hi, this myspace page is dedicated to Emil Mijares, one of the Philippines' premier jazz pianists, vibraphonists, composers and arrangers who has gone on to be with the Lord at the age of 72 on October 15, 2007 in Buena Park, CA, USA. His career spanned two nations and over 50 years. Emil was active musically until he was taken ill on Sept. 5, 2007. He has been called the Father of Philippine Jazz Piano and has mentored countless filipino musicians and singers. This webpage now serves as a memorial to this great son of the Philippines. So long Maestro! To email Emil's family: GMGA1@YAHOO.COM.

I am just now finding out about your father and I am SOOOOO VERY SORRY. I really enjoyed his spirit as well as his musical talent. He was a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL man to know and will be greatly missed. God's Blessings on your family.
We miss you Dad. You've left us with quite a void but don't you worry, this will be filled with a lot of the good memories and music that you left us with. Too bad for me, I won't be able to call you anymore every time I hear a new jazz recording that excites me. That's okay, I'll save up all the stories and we'll have a lot to talk about when the time comes! Just enjoy yourself now in the presence of our Lord. I'm sure he'll take good care of you =)
What an absolute joy you have been through the years. Your presence will be felt often and missed…always. My friend….my hero…. I will be remembering….the shadow of your smile.
