Like a musical shape-shifter, Emily Brass takes you on a psychedelic hip hop journey, channeling the ghosts of old school rap, rock-steady reggae, ragtime jazz, and 60's rock & soul, while relentlessly keeping you in a sweat-inducing, smile-inspiring trance-dance, all night long.
Her lyrical message is empowering, progressive, and poetic, sung through her countless vocal styles, conjuring up the spirits of Zap Mama, Sade, Chrissie Hynde, Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill, Billie Holiday and even John Lennon. Between rapid-fire raps, catchy choruses, and sensuously sung verses, she uses her sax as a wailing, magical wand, causing audiences to lose themselves under the influence of Maceo Parker, Manu Dibango and Dean Frasier-inspired riffs.

Ola Emily, I don't think we met in that Blacksburg place. I heard Foundation Stone a few times and Shayar and I were walking downtown in the Noke last year some time and talked to you next to the Shop at the Market. You maybe know Josie at AWful's at Towers. SHe is a neighbor and runs Kings Point Pub in the summer at SMLake where I live. Mostly I spend some time working in the other 'Burg' (lunchbag town...) well, I will do some gigs here at SMLAke this summer (Mariners Landing). Anyway, I very much like your new cuts, they sound wonderful and your vocals etc do too! Hope it was GREAT at Pine and is tomorrow too. So much going on, can't be in three places at once. PEACE and ONE LOVE~~Laurabella (I REALLY LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT A FEMALE INSTRUMENTALIST DOING SOME STUFF AROUND HERE!!!!)
It was sunny and dry. Now I'm back into reality. Thanks for saying hey. Talk to you soon, Emily. Oh, and thanks for reminding me about the Saturday show. I want to add that to Top Tickets. Peace ...
