i am one of the movie narcolepsy sufferers of this world, but some of the more modern movies i've really enjoyed in the not-so-distant past are harold and maude (ok that's 1971 but whatevs), little miss sunshine, ghost world, science of sleep, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (yes, i like everyone on myspace, also like this movie ;) ), kinky boots.. and of course high fidelity (which i have seen about 6 times, and only fell asleep in about 2 of those times).
of old films i like pretty much anything including julie christie or audrey hepburn, and many things directed by truffaut.
these days i particularly appreciate italian movies with english subtitles!
Television
i do not own a tv. as a child, my parents didn't believe in letting me watch very much tv at all (we only got about 2 channels), and this kind of stuck with me. i was allowed to watch only a very select number of things, basically only educational programmes and films made prior to 1970. anything else they considered "far too vulgar" and capable of corrupting my tender sensibilites ;). these days i have very little time for any sort of tv, but like to watch the occasional movie if I can stay awake long enough (see above).
Heroes

Emily Jones is back in Milano, for now. Posted at 6:48 PM Aug 6 view more
About me: Hi, I'm Emily, I'm rather obsessed with music, and a DJ, amongst other things; Feel free to check out my website (www.emilyjones.ca), to add my other djing myspace profile (myspace.com/djemilyjones), or read further for my official (and detailed!) bio.
As of the end of February, 2008, I am now based in Milan, Italy.
Official Bio:
Emily Christina Jones, born in Canada in 1979, is the daughter of European immigrants and youngest of 3 girls. She was raised in a family where music and reading were encouraged, and team sports and television were discouraged, and as a result became fascinated with music at an early age. Her father, a noted meteor physicist and multi-instrumentalist, especially inspired Emily, and passed on his tremendous passion for music to her.
As a teenager, in part motivated by her mother's love of classical music, she studied voice (Royal Conservatory lessons) with a trained opera singer, and was also a choir member, but paused in her vocal training at age 17, due to the demands of her studies, and soon began to re-direct her energy towards seriously collecting music, as she completed her computer science degree at university.
Miss Jones represents a refreshing escape from the modern electronic dance music landscape. Instead her sets are full of music with real instruments, bright songs, and swinging rhythms, that make your toes tap. Recognized for groovy, upbeat music matched with a glowing smile, Emily whisks you off (in style) to a sunny coastal town you've never heard of, where it's always summer, drinks have little paper umbrellas and you're never the only one dancing.
Her recipes for refined atmosphere are culled from the global jazz movement at large - from old greats, to fresh interpretations of jazz standards, splashed with many forms of Latin music, funk, jazzy hip-hop, organic house, and funky breakbeat, along with music from lesser-known modern jazz / bossa pioneers. From contemporary Finland, Germany, and Japan to the latest British and Italian jazz aimed squarely at the dance floor, Miss Jones has come forth to play records that few have heard and most fall instantly in love with.
Emily Jones has held multiple weekly and monthly DJ residencies in the Ottawa, Canada region (2004-2008) and completed her first European mini-tours in 2007, playing DJ gigs in Germany, Italy, France, Belgium and the UK.

please note, i am very sorry if i do not respond to every request, message or comment in a timely manner, the friends requests are somewhat out of control.
unfortunately now i must mass approve friends requests (although I would prefer not to) - if you have something to tell me, please message me, thanks! :)
also, please do not post big ugly comments on my page. if i do not approve comments, it is usually because they are too big and/or too ugly, not because i don't like you or your band.***

The rain to the wind said, 'You push and I'll pelt.' They so smote the garden bed That the flowers actually knelt, And lay lodged--though not dead. I know how the flowers felt.
